Diehard Harry Potter fans who bought Hogwarts Legacy will undoubtedly want to immerse themselves in the Wizarding World as much as possible. The game’s open-world design on its own should do a lot of the heavy lifting in this regard, but some players may want to push their immersion further. Specifically, they might want to play Hogwarts Legacy with the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller to see how its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback may add to the experience. But of course, that begs the question: does the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy even support the DualSense controller?
Is DualSense support in Hogwarts Legacy available on PC?
Unfortunately, Hogwarts Legacy on PC does not directly support the PS5’s advanced controller. To be clear, this doesn’t mean that the game will not let you play it via the DualSense controller (you can). But it does mean that the game won’t take advantage of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and other immersion-enhancing features. As of right now, only a select number of PC games make use of these features.
On PS5, however, Hogwarts Legacy fully utilizes the DualSense controller’s capabilities to attempt to create the ultimate Wizarding World experience. A few of the developers at Avalanche Software even went over many of the specific ways that Hogwarts Legacy uses the controller in a PlayStation Blog post. For instance, the game incorporates the controller’s adaptive triggers and haptics to give combat an extra sense of impact. Additionally, the controller’s features allow players to “feel the flap of a hippogriff’s wings and sense whispers of the mysterious Ancient Magic.”
Considering that the PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy makes such heavy use of the DualSense controller, players will no doubt feel disappointed that the PC version doesn’t do the same. However, there remains the possibility that the developers will add full DualSense support to the PC version in a future update.
