Punk rock band join Kanye West and a $1 million tournament in inaugural COD convention.
Dropkick Murphys will perform on the opening day of the convention, 2 September, at 8pm. As per yesterday’s announcement, the punk rockers join hip-hop supremo Kanye West as Activision try to ramp up publicity for the events first outing.
Also confirmed the Call of Duty XP is a $1 million Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer tournament and various live-action performances. The event takes place on 2 and 3 September in Los Angeles, California.
Following on from yesterday’s claim that Call of Duty X will be “epic”, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg know believes the event will be “historic”:
“With an unbeatable lineup of real-world and in-game experiences, Call of Duty XP was already poised to be an historic event for fans of the franchise,” said Hirschberg.
“The addition of Dropkick Murphys just makes XP that much more memorable. Few bands fit the bill better—we’re thrilled to have them performing on opening day.”
