Upgrading armor and weapons in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is vital; any players who want to succeed should focus on it. Many players don’t know that depending on which smithy you visit, it will change which stats increase when enhancing armor and weapons.
This guide explains everything about Dragon’s Dogma 2 enhancements and which stats increase when upgrading through Elven, Dwarven, Vermundian, Battahli, and Wyrmfire.
All Enhancements in Dragon’s Dogma 2, explained
Depending on the build you’re looking to create, you will want to visit different armorers and smithys in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The affected stats depend on who you enhance gear with, for example, Vemundian versus Battahli. Since materials are scarce, upgrading gear wisely before spending necessary materials on stats increases that don’t help your build is important.
To help you with your upgrading needs, we explain below what each enhancement style does and the stats it affects in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Vermundian: Enhances all stats equally.
- Elven: Greatly increases the Magick and Magick Defense stats with a slight boost to Strength and Defense
- Battahli: Mainly increases Strength and Defense stats but also slightly increases Magick and Magick Defense stats.
- Dwarven: Imbues weapon with the ability to make foes flinch and increases Knockdown Resistance.
- Wyrmfire: Weight reduction and allows armor/weapon to be enhanced a fourth time. Increases all stats.
As you can tell, each smithing style has its own purpose. For example, if you are a Warrior looking to become as strong as possible, you will want to enhance your armor through Battahli. I love magic in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so I’ll enhance most of my gear through the Elven smithing style. It all boils down to preference.
How to find all Enhancement styles in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Knowing where to go is essential now that you understand what each smithing style does in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Below is a quick overview of each smithing style’s location.
- Vermundian: Any merchant who sells armor or weapons in the Vermund region.
- Elven: Smithy found in the Sacred Arbor, northwest of Vermund Capital.
- Battahli: Any merchant who sells armor in the Battahli region.
- Dwarven: Found through Drabnir’s Grotto.
- Wyrmfire: Dragonforged merchant found in a cave northeast of the Battahli Capital
One important thing you need to know about Wyrmfire is that he is the only merchant who doesn’t ask for gold. Instead, he requires Wyrmslife Crystals, which can be found in any draconic creature in the game.
