According to a now-removed posting by Nintendo UK, acclaimed anime fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ will soon see Janemba as its next DLC character. An early “leak” this morning showed a page specifically for the character and contained information about what he’ll come with. Since the internet never forgets, all of the information was preserved before Nintendo’s wizards stepped in to mop up.
Janemba, ooooo!!!
The final character of the “FighterZ Pass 2,” Janemba will come with five alternate colors, a lobby avatar, and a “Janemba Z Stamp.” That’s part and parcel with what every other DLC character has included, for the record. As for which part of Dragon Ball history Janemba comes from, he was a character in the 1995 movie Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn.
Janemba is, essentially, the living embodiment of evil. He has control of reality-warping powers and can reconstruct the environment to better suit his needs. As well as being a deadly force, Janemba also has a powerful ego. He regularly hurls insults at Goku while battling him (though they mostly amount to just his name). He’s a fitting character to add to Dragon Ball FighterZ and is thankfully not another damn version of Goku.
With EVO 2019 taking place this weekend in Las Vegas, it seems Bandai Namco likely wanted to make the announcement of Janemba’s inclusion happen at the tournament. Someone at Nintendo probably just hit a tickbox early and spoiled the fun. However, this begs the question of whether or not Bandai Namco will outright confirm his inclusion early. I say why not, especially since it’s not really a secret anymore.
How do you feel about Janemba’s inclusion in Dragon Ball FighterZ? Were you expecting another version of Goku to round out the second FighterZ Pass? Let us know in the comments below who you’d like to see added in the future.
