Also, while we’re on the subject, all characters should come with three assists right away. Adding A, B, and C assists was one of the best things Dragon Ball FighterZ did to shake up its gameplay. These don’t even have to be the same assists, but three options should be available to players right away.

There are a few common patterns among these changes between what to change inside and outside of the game. Consistency, creativity, freedom, and choice: all elements that improve every type of game, fighting or otherwise. Dragon Ball FighterZ 2 probably has the best foundation to start with for a sequel since Street Fighter 2. The potential this sequel has is unheard of in modern fighting games, and the changes we have gone over here can help cement such a game in the pantheon of the world’s best. Here’s hoping.
