In addition to attacking characters, characters can also attack your opponent directly. You start the game with 30,000 life points, and you lose if your life reaches zero. One of the more unique feature of Dragon Ball Card Warriors is that you can attack your opponent directly and ignore their characters. This creates an interesting dynamic between you and your opponent. If you ignore your opponent’s characters and only attack their leader, you leave your opponent’s board wide open to do the same to you.

Likewise, if you only focus on defeating your opponent’s characters, you won’t be winning the game. The only other way you can lose is by having no cards in your deck when you end your turn. You must assess each situation and determine if it is better to attack your opponent’s characters or the opponent themselves. Keep in mind there are also characters with the “Guard” ability. These characters must be attacked first and defeated before you can attack your opponent.

One last thing to know about characters is their symbols. Some characters have one of four symbols on the left of their attack and health. When a character with that symbol is defeated, it is added to a pool of symbols on top of your energy and energy bank (more on that in a bit). Other cards can have extra effects depending on how many of a certain symbol you have. Some effects only require that you have a certain symbol stored up. Others will actually use that symbol to activate its effects. When building your deck, keep an eye on how many symbols of each type you have and whether you have enough to use the abilities of other cards in your deck.
