The Cards

So first things first, how do you play this thing? There are two types of cards in the game, character cards and event cards. Your main deck consists of 25 cards and you can have up to three copies of any one card in the deck. For example, you can have multiple different Goku cards in the deck, but no more than three of the same Goku. Character cards have attack and health.

When one character attacks another, they subtract their attack from the other card’s health. That character is defeated if their health reaches zero. Event cards have one time use effects that once they are activated go straight to the discard pile, aka the graveyard. Event cards are similar to spells in Yu-Gi-Oh!, sorceries in Magic: The Gathering and extra cards in Dragon Ball Super.

In addition to your main deck, you also have a separate deck called the SP Deck. There are special versions of characters called SP characters that can only be summoned by playing certain event cards. You can only have five cards in your SP deck and these characters typically have very powerful abilities that can turn the tide of battle. You cannot play SP cards without event cards that let you play them, so make sure to include them in your main deck.

You can only have a maximum of six characters on the field at once. If you play a card that summons another card when your board is already full, that card’s entire effect will be negated so be careful.
