Klei Entertainment have pushed a piece of paid DLC for darkly amusing survive-’em-up Don’t Starve onto Steam Early Access. It’s called Reign of Giants, so I suspect you can guess at least some of what’s involved.

Klei have been pretty good about releasing a few free updates for the game, but this particular piece of DLC adds in a hell of a lot, so it’s maybe not too surprising that they’re asking for a £3.99 entry fee (£3.19, with the current discount). We can apparently expect new biomes, new creatures, new seasons, new characters, new SCIENCE, and… well, lots of new.

Spring will bring torrential rain, while summer will force you to suffer “blistering heat”. There are two new playable characters – Wigfrid, a stage actress who’s gone a bit far into method acting while playing the role of a Valkyrie; and Webber, a young boy living inside the spider who tried to eat him awhile back. There’s an extra save slot. There are giants.

Right now, Klei reckon most of the content is in the game, but it’s still missing a few bits and pieces, and needs some general polish/bug fixing/balancing. If you want to buy in, you can do so over here.
