Zenless Zone Zero is a gacha game from HoYoverse, creators of other popular gacha games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Co-op and multiplayer have been a part of HoYoverse’s prior gacha games, so you might be curious if Zenless Zone Zero will follow suit.

Does Zenless Zone Zero have multiplayer?
As of this writing, Zenless Zone Zero currently does not support multiplayer or co-op. While HoYoverse’s other major gacha games have multiplayer and co-op functionality, Zenless Zone Zero did not receive the same treatment. Zenless Zone Zero is currently undergoing its second closed beta test, meaning the game may receive some semblance of co-op gameplay.
Genshin Impact has an immersive multiplayer mode where you can join a friend’s open world and explore with them. You can also challenge world bosses and other weekly bosses. Meanwhile, Honkai: Star Rail has a more limited form of co-op, allowing you to “borrow” a friend’s character for certain fights and chat with them in a small capacity through direct messages.

As a result, Zenless Zone Zero will likely have some form of multiplayer capabilities in the future. There isn’t any indication of this so far, but I’d be surprised if HoYoverse doesn’t add even a small form of multiplayer. (There’s even an arcade with minigames, which I’m sure you’ll eventually be able to play with friends later.)
Regardless, Zenless Zone Zero is a fully fleshed-out single-player experience, so co-op isn’t exactly necessary. Check back for more news about whether or not Zenless Zone Zero has multiplayer or not when the full game releases, expected to be released sometime in 2024.
