Carry over?

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is the next installment in the trilogy of games that is being portrayed from the iconic 1997 release, and this one is looking like a game of the year contender.

With Square Enix now releasing a demo for players to check out, we’re going to run over if your progress during this introduction to the game will carry over when it releases.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth demo – Does my progress transfer over?

It’s not every day that demos for new AAA titles get released for fans to check out, but Square Enix is one of the remaining developers that still deploy this method. This was the case for Final Fantasy 16 back in June of 2023, and once again, we can test out the game beforehand.

However, those eager to check out Rebirth are naturally going to want to know if the two hours they spend playing the demo will essentially be erased when the game releases. Thankfully, we can confirm that, yes, your progress will transfer over to the full release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth when it releases on February 29.

Square Enix has noted that “players will also be able to skip past sections covered in the “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo. Players must ensure their game is fully updated to take advantage of these benefits.”

The demo itself is going to take most players around two hours to complete and will feature some familiar faces and some mini-games to partake in. However, those who complete the demo will also be entitled to some rewards, as Square Enix has stated that “players with save data from the demo will receive the Kupo Charm and Survival Set in the full game.”

So, there’s some reasoning into why players will want to dive into the demo, especially because there’s going to be a second part releasing February 21. That gives you more than enough game time to decide if Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is a day-one purchase, which we believe it should be!

In the meantime, be sure to head over here, where we’ve got some essential information about Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth before the game releases!
