Does Star Wars Outlaws have transmog? Answered

An outlaw can have style.

Gameplay takes the driver’s seat in any single-player game, but your character’s appearance is just as important. With this in mind, let me answer the question: Does Star Wars Outlaws have transmog?

Is there a transmog system in Star Wars Outlaws?

In short, yes, transmog is in Star Wars Outlaws. You can change the appearance of your chest, waist, and legs without affecting any of their sweet stat gains or effects. I love this feature because I don’t want to be wearing my heaviest Ashiga Clan coat and pants made for the snow in Tatooine.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term, “transmog” means transferring the appearance of one item onto another. For example, if you wear late-game gear for their stat bonuses but prefer it to look like the clothing you found earlier, you can do that.

If you’ve ever played Monster Hunter, it’s the same as the Layered Armor mechanic in those titles.

How to transmog in Star Wars Outlaws

The transmog system is handled in the best way in Outlaws as it’s so simple. You can use the appearance of any gear you obtain from any source. Open your Loadout, and select the “Change Appearance” function instead of “Select.”

There’s no additional cost, and no items are required. Simply open the map and scroll over to your Equipment Tab. Choose Loadout, and instead of picking “Select,” use “Change appearance” instead.

Transmogrifying is a great quality-of-life feature, as many items in Star Wars Outlaws bestow skills or abilities on Kay. Now, you can enjoy those bonuses while rocking whatever outfit you like. You can even use Kay’s default outfit from the start of the game if you like. That, or you can max out your Reputation with a Syndicate to get the best-looking clothing sets in the game.

The most accessible place to get Outfits is from Traders scattered throughout the game, which is the same place you can get Ironweave and Coarseweave. The Mirogana Market at the start of the story is a perfect example, but there is a catch.

Some areas open up more after you’ve completed specific objectives or reached the required part of the story. None of this is shown, but if a location seems unusually barren, you may need to play more to unlock amenities like Traders.

Traders typically demand cash for their wares. If you’re a few credits short, make sure to sell any of your Valuables. Most of these have no use beyond selling for profit, so there’s no need to keep them clogging up your inventory.

But before you sell your Valuables for Credits, make sure you choose Merchants from the Factions that you’re closest with. The higher your Reputation, the more money you get from selling Valuables.
