Does Renown carry over in Diablo 4 Season 1?

Does Renown stay between Diablo 4 seasons? What else carries over between seasons?

As you play through Diablo 4, completing quests, discovering areas, and conquering Strongholds grant you Renown, and it’s split between the four regions: Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, and Scosglen. As you earn enough Renown, you’ll get great bonuses like gold, XP, skill points, and even Paragon points. However, when you start a new character in the Seasonal Realm, does Renown carry over or do you need to grind for it all over again in Diablo 4 Season 1?

Note: Upon starting a new season of Diablo 4, you’ll likely wonder if you should skip the campaign.

How to carry over Renown in Diablo 4 Season 1

The answer is complicated: yes, Renown does carry over in new seasons of Diablo 4, but not all of it. All the Renown you earned from the Altars of Lilith and exploring regions carries over to every new season of Diablo 4, which is a huge relief.

What Renown doesn’t carry over is the points you earned through Dungeons, Strongholds, main and side quests, and most discovered waypoints.

What progress carries over in Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant?

  • Major city waypoints – Upon making a new character, you’ll automatically have Kyovashad, Cerrigar, Gea Kaul, Ked Bardu, and Zarbinzet if you’ve discovered those major city waypoints. Every other waypoint will need to be discovered again.
  • Altars of Lilith – You keep all Altars of Lilith buffs and the Renown you received from all of them, thankfully.
  • Explored map regions – You keep every part of the map that you’ve explored with previous characters.
  • Option to skip the campaign – If you have completed the campaign, then you get an option to skip the campaign for every character you make.
  • Mount – If you have started Act 4 and unlocked the mount with one character, then every character from then on will have access to mounts.

If you have all or a lot of Altars of Lilith and have explored all or the majority of the Diablo 4 map, then you’ll start a new character with enough Renown to gain two levels per region. You’ll then need to complete quests and conquer Dungeons and Strongholds at World Tier 3 to gain even more Renown with each new character per season.

In Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant, you’ll definitely want to know the best ways to get Malignant Hearts on your journey to collect more Renown.
