Slaying monsters and saving the world might just need a little bit more than a mouse click. Does Last Epoch feature controller support? Continue reading to find out!
Can you play Last Epoch with controllers?
Now that Last Epoch has finally left Early Access, and with many players who enjoy action role-playing games and dungeon crawlers willing to give it a try, one of the main issues that may pop out in gameplay is the full or partial support of controllers. While many play with the mouse and keyboard combination, there is a case for controllers being the best way to play this type of gaming genre.
If you take a look at the official Last Epoch Steam page, you will notice that they advertise Partial Controller Support, which can sound troubling. However, after playing the game for a bit, I’m pleased to say that Last Epoch does feature controller support, and a very decent one as well.
I have two controllers available at the moment: a DualSense controller (PS5) and an Xbox Series X controller. Both of them work perfectly fine in Last Epoch. While they could surely optimize the keybinds since the controller buttons appear just as text with no color or design whatsoever, they both played nicely and the in-game experience felt smooth. Scrolling through the menus was also a great feeling and there was no skipping whatsoever. I only noticed some glitching with the DualSense controller where the keybinds were constantly skipping rapidly between DS buttons and PC keys. However, that didn’t hinder my actual experience while fighting enemies.

While I haven’t tried it myself, reports have suggested that using the Nintendo Switch Pro controller with Last Epoch is buggy or straight-up incompatible. So, if you have a PS5 or XSX controller, connecting it via USB or Bluetooth will do the trick.
