Pentiment is a medieval mystery game that centers around investigating the enigma that revolves around the town. The catch is that you must solve the mystery within the given time. In the game’s second act, you now have the option to give Claus’ daughter, Magdalene, a book. However, do you need to do this event? And if you do, does it matter what book you give Magdalene in Pentiment?
Should you give a book to Claus’ Daughter in Pentiment?
While the given book has an effect on Claus’ daughter’s future, it does not affect the outcome of Pentiment. You can choose from theology, animals, herbs, languages, and even printmaking. Any of these books will significantly influence Magdalene’s line of interests as she ages and will help mend the broken father-daughter relationship.
Though, we recommend that you do this side quest anyway. Claus has been trying to reach out to Andreas to inform him about his wife and son’s passing. Consider it as a way to get even with your old pal.
Does the book Andreas gives to Magdalene affect the ending of Pentiment?
The book Andreas gives does not affect the start or even the ending of Act III in Pentiment. You’ll still see Magdalene picking up chamomile leaves at the beginning of the third act. The ending depends on Magdalene’s responses to the major quests—particularly the ones in Act III.
How many endings does Pentiment have?
There are 96 different mural combinations in Pentiment, which tells you the fate of the citizens. Although you can arguably consider them as endings, we think of more of them as variations. In fact, this is similar to Cyberpunk 2077‘s end credits, where the messages you get from your connections depend on how you treat them and your decisions throughout the game.
