Does Harry Osborn die in Spider-Man 2?

Spider-Man 2 improves quite a bit from the first game. From the combat to the story, there’s quite a bit to get Spidy fans excited for the future.

If you’re paying attention to the surprisingly good story there’s a lot that’s left unanswered, or so it seems. One of those things is Harry Osborn’s fate in Spider-Man 2. Hopefully, this article will answer the question.

Spider-Man 2: Does Harry Osborn die?

Now for obvious reasons, this is a massive spoiler. If you have not beaten the game or haven’t gotten to this point in the game, look away. The time to set up the payoff makes this part of the story all worth it.

So does Harry Osborn die in Spider-Man 2? Well not technically. He becomes unconscious after Miles uses his shock powers to bring him back to life. While in this state, his illness takes over. If you remember, the Venom Symbiote was helping him overcome his problem, but after it latched onto Peter, it went downhill for him there. He is alive, but without any help from the Symbiote, his illness would become worse. Having him in limbo keeps all the doors open for him to appear in the sequel as something else and something worse.

Harry Osborn in certain stories becomes the Hobb Goblin, so it would make perfect sense to me at least to keep him alive just to become the main villain. To add some weight to my theory, Harry’s father Norman brings up the G-Serum which is a clear reference to the Goblin Formula. This could be a way to set up either Norman or Harry becoming the main villain for the next game.

Since Harry knows that Peter and Miles are Spider-Men, the sequel could have tons of stakes in it. This can help the narrative be darker and more mature because now our heroes’ identity becomes a problem.
