Is there a secret cow level in Diablo 4?

Got beef?

Remmeber Moo Moo Farm from Diablo 2? I do. It was a funny little extra added to in to inject a little whimsy to an otherwise bleak world. It was mirrored in Diablo 3 with Whimsyshire, a place of loot and light and pretty colors. Does Diablo 4 have a secret cow-level equivalent, a space to unwind and harvest Sanctuary’s finest beef? Read on to find out.

To this day, no cow level has actually been found in Diablo 4, but there are hints something like it will appear soon.

There are whole communities of fans, like the “Not looking for a cow level” group on Discord, that are dedicating all their time to finding it, often using data mining techniques track down this staple of the Diablo franchise. Things are looking up as a number of relics have been found that point toward the eventual addition of the level.

There is almost certainly a cow level in Diablo 4, but data mining hasn’t revealed it yet. However, we’re getting extremely close. We know that you need to defeat 666 cows with any one character. With the last cow slain, you’ll get a special item.

Items such as the Tome of Town Portal, Bloody Wooden Shard, and an Intricate Metalic Fragment have all been found. Each of these items is directly linked to the cow level in Diablo 3. All hope is not lost. To get the Bloody Wooden Shard, you need to defeat your last cow in Hawezar or Kehjistan, to get the Musty Tomb, you need to defeat your last cow in Scosglen or Fractured Peaks, and to get the Intricate Metalic Fragment, you need to defeat your last cow in Dry Steppes.

After you get all three items, fast-travel to Ked Bardu and drop those three items into the fountain with four Ox statues. From there, you’ll want to travel to the easternmost side of Scosglen and you’ll find a cellar with tons of cows in it. While this is, technically, a Secret Cow Level, we’re not convinced this is the Secret Cow Level, so the search continues.

Diablo 3 had a throwback to the Secret Cow Level from Diablo 2 as you made your way into Whimsyshire. The bovine badass, Cow King, spawned near the entrance of the pony level. He directly broke the fourth wall by confirming that there was no Secret Cow Level. His ghost was a nice throwback and a final rest for the hunters looking for secrets.

Blizzard likes to throw in a few references for the die-hard fans returning to the RPG. Likewise, they also enjoy a few little secrets for people to find later down the line. These act as rewards for the players who have really taken the time to delve deep into the world of Sanctuary. However, just because there is no Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4 so far doesn’t mean there won’t be other amazing secrets to unlock.
