Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 brings players into the world of Dungeons & Dragons and sets the RPG genre to a whole other level. Choose from a selection of Origin characters, make game-altering decisions, and engage in tactical combat. But can you bring friends along? You may want to know whether or not Baldur’s Gate 3 has multiplayer co-op, so we’ll provide an answer below.
Can you play Baldur’s Gate 3 with friends?
The answer to if Baldur’s Gate 3 has multiplayer co-op is a resounding yes! Of course, you can play all of this Baldur’s Gate game alone, but there’s also an option to play cooperatively. Not only can you play with a friend online, but split-screen co-op as well. This also applies to the console versions of the game. You can play Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer with two to four players at a time.
From the main menu, you can jump right into a multiplayer game that’s open for anyone. If you’re not interested in playing with strangers, you can still play with your friends. Either create your own lobby, or join an existing lobby. You can even play through LAN!
Depending on what game you’re joining, there are some things to take note of. If you’re joining a pre-existing Single Player game, you’ll be taking control over a companion character. But if you’re creating a new multiplayer game, all the players can create their own character.
Upon full release, you’ll be able to play Baldur’s Gate 3 on local split-screen co-op. No matter which type of multiplayer game you’re doing, you and your friends don’t necessarily have to stick together.
You can separate from each other and go do your own thing at the risk of leaving a friend alone in a tough combat situation. Also, similar to Larian’s other games, when one player is in a conversation with an NPC, another player can make dialogue suggestions.
