Disney has announced a new racing IP, Split/Second, which offers competitors the chance to cause huge amounts of destruction in order to take out opponents.
As well as the intensity of the race, players will be competing in an alternate world’s hyper competitive reality TV show where the ultimate goal is to become the season champion.
This will be achieved not only with dastardly vehicle melee attacks and collisions, but with well-timed explosions triggered by players to either take out the opponent or to create an advantageous shortcut somewhere on the track.
The game will be developed by Black Rock Studio, the guys behind PURE, and will be out early 2010 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
“Action racing has captured the imagination of video game fans worldwide and we’re going to redefine that experience with Split/Second,” said Nick Baynes, game director, Black Rock Studio.
