Disintegration, Halo co-creator’s next project, will be shown at Gamescom

The talent behind Halo has formed a brand new studio to show players their idea of combat evolved.

V1 Interactive will be treating fans to a reveal of their upcoming game Disintegration during Gamescom on Aug. 19. The reveal will be happening during the event’s opening night festivities. It’s unclear if a livestream will take place for fans not in attendance (though I’d say it’s very likely that one will), but V1 encourages folks to follow their social media accounts for updates. V1 Interactive was co-founded by Marcus Lehto, a former Creative Director at Bungie and co-creator of the Halo series.

Little is known about Disintegration, but a new teaser trailer showing off a gorgeous, combat-ready ship was revealed to help hype up the incoming announcement. V1 Interactive describes the game as a “sci-fi, first-person shooter.” It is planned for release sometime during the 2020 fiscal year (April 2020 to March 2021). The title is being published by Private Division (The Outer Worlds, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey) and Take-Two Interactive (Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption).

Another new series descended from Halo

Disintegration is V1’s first title since starting up back in 2014. The studio is home to AAA game development veterans who have worked on SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs as well as some new developers. It’ll be great to see what the minds behind one of last generation’s most well-regarded series, paired with some new blood in the industry, have in store.

With Disintegration coming from ex-Bungie talent and being described as a sci-fi, first-person shooter, it sure feels like we will be getting a game that walks in the same footsteps as Destiny or earlier Halo titles. Whether this game is a story-driven, linear experience like the latter or a massively multiplayer shooter like the former, the game is bound to grab a lot of attention during Gamescom. Let us know what you hope Disintegration might be down in the comments below!
