Microsoft and Blizzard have confirmed that Diablo IV will launch for PC in 2023. During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, the duo also revealed the fifth “and final” character class: the Necromancer. Paired with the news comes a new Diablo IV gameplay trailer, along with a CGI video of the Necromancer.
It’s sooner than what we were concerned of. The launch date for Diablo IV was thought to still be pretty far off. One would expect the recently launched Diablo Immortal to be something for fans to play in the meantime. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case. While Blizzard didn’t offer an exact release date, the game is for sure heading our way next year.
Blizzard confirmed that the Necromancer is the fifth class heading to Diablo IV. It’s the final one for the launch roster, which includes the Druid, Sorceress, Barbarian and Rogue. But no Monk. Damn it. Well, hopefully the Monk punches his way into future content launches, and doesn’t stay siloed for long.
Rise from your grave
Beyond the Necromancer reveal and launch confirmation, Diablo IV also got a developer showcase trailer. It details what else is coming to the game at launch. There are 150 dungeons to explore, as well as strongholds you can cleanse of enemies and other forces of evil. Taking out these territories will transform them into towns or other dungeons, containing rewards. Local events happen in the overworld, consisting of quests or fights against “world bosses.” These can be done solo or in a group. Other players run around in a shared world, so finding allies won’t be too difficult.
Diablo IV will launch for PC in 2023. During the showcase today, many games were announced as coming to Game Pass — with most as day one launches. However, neither Microsoft or Blizzard has committed to making Diablo IV a Game Pass game. But it could be possible.
