Sadly, we Diablo 4 fans must wait just a little bit longer for the start of Season 2, since the release of the season is delayed due to technical issues. As of right now, we’re not sure what these technical issues are, but Patch 1.2.0 is at least live. Diablo 4: Season of Blood was supposed to arrive alongside Patch 1.2.0 on October 17 at 1pm ET, but it seems like the launch didn’t work properly.
Blizzard working to fix Diablo 4 as Season 2 is delayed by a few hours
In a Twitter/X post on the Diablo account, Blizzard announced that it encountered some complications while trying to launch Season of Blood. This led to Diablo 4 Season 2 getting delayed by a few hours due to unknown technical issues.
Blizzard also said it would share more news and updates as soon as possible. As for Season 1, I remember that having a pretty smooth launch. A delay of a few hours sounds like a big deal, but in the grand scheme of things, Season 2 should launch in no time.
Although Patch 1.2.0 launched and updated perfectly fine, if you try to create your Seasonal character in Diablo 4, currently you’re not able to choose a Seasonal Realm. There’s only the Eternal Realm available, which doesn’t apply to Seasons and is essentially the base game.

For now, we’ll just have to wait for updates and hope that Season 2 still launches sometime today. Although I’m not technically-knowledged in game launches, I do know how difficult it can be to launch a game update smoothly. Some players are also experiencing issues like Error Code 300010, or even server disconnects, as I can tell from the Twitter/X replies.
Seeing as the previous Season’s launch went smoothly, Blizzard shouldn’t have too much trouble fixing Season 2’s issues. We’ll keep you all updated once we find out more.
Diablo 4 is available on Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox.
