Diablo 3 has game breaking bug, Error 3006

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

Diablo 3 hasn’t even been out for a full day and players have already found a bug that breaks the game entirely.
After interacting with the Templar follower early in the game, players are being kicked out of the Diablo 3 servers. Upon trying to log back in, entry is refused and they’re given an Error 3006 message.
In some cases, players are saying that they’ve been locked out of their Battle.net account completely.
It’s thought that the problem arises if you decide to give the Templar a shield. Some players report that the problem only affects the Demon Hunter class, although we’ve not yet confirmed that ourselves.
Blizzard has confirmed that they are working on a fix, but in the meanwhile it’s suggested that you not try to equip the Templar with any gear.
Happy looting!
