The Devil in Me character deaths guide – Finale finishes

Let’s discuss the death scenes that occur in the finales of The Devil in Me. There are two finale branches in the campaign.

Ultimatum finale

You can refer to our Ultimatum finale guide if you need more help regarding this portion. Essentially, both Mark and Kate will die here.

• Death by acid and poison gas
  • Mark can choose the defiant, antagonistic, and desperate responses, completely screwing over Du’Met. The madman won’t like it, though. Kate will have acid poured in her veins, while Mark’s chamber is filled with poison gas.

• Death by sniper rifle
  • Alternatively, Mark can agree to Du’Met’s plans. He’ll ferry another family so that he and Kate are allowed to escape. Sadly, Du’Met isn’t a man of his word. The ferry reverses direction and Du’Met pulls out a sniper rifle. Two gunshots are heard as the screen fades to black.

Lake finale

You can refer to our Lake finale guide if you need help with the QTEs here. This is, technically, the main variant of the finales. It has several opportunities for the remaining characters to still get eliminated once Du’Met shows up.

• Erin: Axe chop to the chest – Fail the QTE.
• Charlie: Decapitation – Fail the QTE.
• Jamie: Ruptured by oxygen tank – Choose to attack Du’Met and fail the aim-and-stab QTE.

• Mark: Throat slashed ripped out – Fail the QTEs where you grab/use the axe.
• Mark: Head impaled on axe blade – Fail the button-mashing QTEs, don’t use the pepper spray, or have Kate miss the aim-and-hit sequence.
• Mark: Anchor through the chest – Don’t avoid the anchor swinging your way.

• Kate: Strangled by an anchor – If Kate’s still on the boat, just fail the QTE prompts.
• Kate and Mark, or Kate only: Explosion – At the very end of this frantic sequence, don’t bother jumping off the boat. It will crash and explode, killing anyone on it… except Du’Met.
