Never let it be said that complaining gets no results. In response to mixed feelings about Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s always-on object highlighting, Eidos Montreal have provided a toggle.
The short video announcing this also reveals that objective indicators can be turned off from the in-game menu too, for a tougher Deus Ex experience. Indeed, on the highest difficulty, both of these options will be off by default (but can be toggled on again at the player’s leisure.) So whether you enjoy the orange, ‘augmented reality’ object highlighting, or loathe it with every fiber of your being, you’ll be able to play the title your way. Hurrah.
From the footage shown, it seems the menu will have a few more interesting toggles. Keep your eyes open and you’ll see options for “Aim assist,” “Automatic inventory management,” “Cover style,” and “Take-down prompts.”
