Destiny 2 The Final Shape mission list: All quest steps and how long to beat

The Final Shape is the culmination of a decade-long saga in Destiny 2, and with the stakes as high as they are, players are wondering how long the campaign will take to beat and how many missions stand between them and the final showdown with The Witness.

While Destiny 2’s campaigns are never usually that long, The Final Shape places a unique twist on the formula with a new linear design and more cutscenes than ever before. There’s a lot to discover in the new Pale Heart destination, so here’s how long your journey into the Traveler will take you in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 Final Shape Quest List

There are eight missions in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

1. Transmigration
2. Temptation
3. Exegesis
4. Requiem
5. Ascent
6. Dissent
7. Iconoclasm
8. Unlocked after Salvation’s Edge raid completion

Throughout the campaign — most notably after the fifth mission, Ascent — you’ll be sent off to take care of other quests and activities like the new Liminality Strike. The eighth and final mission of The Final Shape campaign will also only be unlocked after the world’s first completion of the Salvation’s Edge raid shortly after launch, so stay tuned for that. How Long is The Final Shape?

A full playthrough of The Final Shape campaign will take you anywhere from six to eight hours depending on your chosen difficulty level. Things will take longer on Legendary difficulty since the enemies hit a lot harder and you’ll restart far more often than on Classic mode.

To give you an idea of how long things will really take, here’s a rundown of all 34 quest steps in The Final Shape.

1. Begin your trek through the Pale Heart and search for Crow.
2. Join Cayde and Crow in Refuge of Repose
3. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Repose
4. Listen to the radio at Refuge of Repose.
5. Search for wreckage of Ikora’s ship.
6. Reunite with Ikora and Cayde at Refuge of Silver Wings.
7. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Silver Wings
8. Listen to the radio at Refuge of Silver Wings
9. Press further ahead through the Pale Heart and look for Zavala.
10. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Home.
11. Listen to the radio at Refuge of Home.
12. Scale the treacherous ice wall with Cayde and Crow.
13. Discuss the next move with Ikora, Zavala, and Crow.
14. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Beginnings.
15. Listen to the radio at Refuge of Beginnings.
16. Attempt to commune with the Traveler in the Broken Deep.
17. Attempt to commune with the Traveler in the Forgotten Deep.
18. Attempt to common with the Traveler in the Blooming Deep.
19. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Beginnings.
20. Listen to the radio at Refuge of Beginnings.
21. Clear a path through a blighted path, and uncover a long-buried past.
22. Crow is going to try to talk Zavala down. This may not end well.
23. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Wishes.
24. Help Targe find Zavala, before it’s too late.
25. Support Zavala at Refuge of Endings.
26. Confer with Ghost at Refuge of Endings.
27. Confront the Witness in the place where it was made.
28. Confer with Ghost in the Lost City.
29. Complete the “Destined Heroes” quest.
30. Track down an unknown threat with Cayde and Crow.
31. The final shape looms. There isn’t much time to prepare. You won’t be able to defeat the Witness alone. Recover powerful artifacts across the Pale Heart, rally your allies, and fortify the Traveler’s Light. Only through your combined strength will you prevail.
32. Confront and unmake the Witness.
33. Return with Ghost to the Lost City in the Pale Heart.
34. Confer with Ghost in the Lost City.

While the Pale Heart is a mostly linear destination, there are still plenty of secrets to discover within it. Seek out new Exotic gear to prepare for the Salvation’s Edge raid and the upcoming Episodes that will bring even more challenges and rewards.
