Alternate strategy – The Core Four
To make the Taniks fight easier, you could try an alternate strategy. This is believed to be the mechanic for “The Core Four” challenge as well. To be clear, you should have a general idea of how the encounter goes. Take note of the buffs, nuclear cores/radiation, and the DPS phase.
Anyway, the main difference here is that the fireteam will simply ignore the Scanner buff and Scanner callouts. Likewise, instead of shooting only two of Taniks’ thrusters, you’ll shoot all four. That means four players (everyone except the Operator and Suppressor) will pick up all the nuclear cores.
These will be deposited in the banks/boxes where Taniks did not float towards. Let’s say Taniks did the orbital bombardment while floating at the orange side, that means the four nukes have to be deposited in the banks at the spawn/white and blue sides.
Note: The Operator will shoot two detainment bubbles and then the Suppressor immediately stuns Taniks to open the banks. If people are fast and on-point, you should get all four nukes deposited with minimal deaths.
If you do this successfully, Taniks will immediately begin his DPS phase. However, rather than booping you out once, he’ll boop you twice. This leads to an extended DPS phase where you could bring him down to final stand in one phase.
Assuming you’re lucky, you could be farming the boss each week. Hopefully, you’ll get the Eyes of Tomorrow exotic rocket launcher as well.
