After completing an Astral Alignment run and gathering the first set of Atlas Skews, the “Wayfinder’s Voyage” quest tells you to visit Trostland in the EDZ. As soon as you spawn in, you’ll see an Ascendant Anchor, a glowing object that provides you with the Parallax Trajectory currency. Once you pick it up, you’re informed that there’s a new activity called the Shattered Realm. You can start it by opening the map of the HELM and clicking on its icon. This is considered a regular mission, so there’s no random matchmaking. In any case, here’s our Destiny 2: Season of the Lost guide to help you with your first visit to the Shattered Realm: Forest of Echoes, aligning the beacons, and finding the Lost Techeun.

Destiny 2: Season of the Lost – Shattered Realm: Forest of Echoes guide — Align the Beacons and find the Lost Techeun
I can easily say that the Shattered Realm: Forest of Echoes is one of the eeriest places in Destiny 2. Think of your previous incursions while doing Ascendant Challenges and Shattered Throne. Then, add more horror vibes and you’ll know what I mean. The whole location is strange, the layout is confusing at first, and it’s filled with lots of Taken.
Before we continue, there are a few things that you’ll notice:
- Ascendant Anchors – These cool-looking orbs are all over the place. Picking them up nets you 30 Parallax Trajectory. You’ll actually find more of these while you’re patrolling in the EDZ.
- Lanterns with symbols – There are blue markers on the ground called Lanterns. They have their own symbols that you’d be familiar with if you’ve done the Last Wish raid:
- Safe Passage – Bird looking to the left/bird left.
- True Sight – Bird with wings down/bird wings.
- Barrier Breach – Bird flying down/bird down.
These actions refer to Wayfinder’s Compass upgrades that you can unlock at the HELM Command Center. These will let you explore more of the Shattered Realm: Forest of Echoes. To be clear, you’ll eventually acquire more upgrades as you progress further in the season given that some requirements are time-gated. For now, let’s focus on the task at hand.
Align the Beacons
There are two Awoken Beacons that you need to find. Since this area has no map, you’ll need to rely on visual cues. In this case, look up to see a beam of light that reaches up to the sky. That’s a beacon that we need to reach.
The first beacon is inside a church called the Abbey of Whispers which you’ll see upon spawning. When you activate the beacon, several Taken mobs will spawn. Kill them all until you’re close to 100%. That causes an Unstoppable Taken Phalanx to appear. Stun and defeat it to complete the task.
The second beacon is further away, so cross the gaps until you reach the spot known as the Harrowed Cliffs. Activate the beacon and eliminate the hostiles. Your last opponent here is an Overload champion. Take it out to finish this step.
When you’re done, look across the distance to see the beam of light. If you look below the Harrowed Cliffs overlooking the church/courtyard, you should see a portal. Enter it to reach The Ascent.
The Corrupted Techeun
The Lost Techuen that you’re looking for is actually a Corrupted Techeun. Be ready because she’ll spawn once you activate the beacon here.
Similar to Sedia from The Corrupted Strike, this boss has several abilities that will knock you back. Oh, and she’s also flanked by a couple of Harrowed Executioners, Taken that use the Stasis element. Kill these enemies first to remove her shield. She’ll summon more mobs when she’s vulnerable.
Go ahead and damage the Corrupted Techeun. Once you’ve dropped a third of her health bar, she’ll regain her shield. As with most boss fights in Destiny 2, you can expect to repeat the same steps until you’re done with the encounter.
Interact with the object when you’re done to complete the task. This nets you a legendary weapon and 100 Parallax Trajectory coins.
When you return to the HELM Command Center, take a look at the Wayfinder’s Compass to unlock the “Barrier Breach” upgrade. This lets you activate the relevant Lanterns (the ones with the “bird flying down” symbol) whenever you go back to the Shattered Realm.
Likewise, you’ll be asked to speak to Savathun’s cocoon in Mara Sov’s sanctum. Listen to her tale and wait until you see the cinematic. Savathun explains her side of the story while she was using Osiris’ form. She claims that she helped Zavala avoid a war against Caiatl, that she made Mithrax and the House of Light seek aid from the Vanguard, and that she revealed how Lakshmi and the Future War Cult betrayed the Last City. It really is a new (and twisted) way to look at the events of the previous seasons.
Of course, this is Savathun that we’re talking about. Remember, we already know the gist of what happens in The Witch Queen, Destiny 2‘s next expansion that releases in 2022. Savathun has insidious plans up her sleeves, so it’s not wise to completely trust her. Lastly, don’t forget to talk to Ikora to complete this phase of the “Wayfinder’s Voyage” challenge. We’ll need to wait for the next weekly reset to see the continuation of the story.
What if I’m already done with this step? What should I do?
Well, you can complete the other weekly challenges:
- “Ascendant Ballast I” has you looking for Ascendant Anchors in this very area, as well as while you’re patrolling.
- Meanwhile, “Ley Line Rumors” tasks you with finding Trivial Mysteries.
