Destiny 2‘s Season of Dawn is drawing to a close, and with it comes a community-wide event that should lead to the next part of your Guardian’s journey. The Empyrean Foundation will require you to donate your Polarized Fractalines to power up the Tower Obelisk. This is somewhat akin to Season of the Undying‘s “collect Vex parts until progress with Ikora reaches 100%” mixed in with the old concept from faction rallies.
Note: Participating in the Empyrean Foundation community event requires you to have unlocked the four Obelisks from other planets as well as the Tower Obelisk. Check out our Obelisks guide for more info.
Destiny 2: Season of Dawn – The Empyrean Foundation
The information comes from the recent This Week at Bungie post. The Empyrean Foundation will require players to donate Polarized Fractaline using the Tower Obelisk. There are seven stages, each one requiring more resources to be used. At the same time, you can also track the community-wide progress to see how much others have donated. Here are some additional details:
- Contributing to the Empyrean Foundation costs 100 Polarized Fractaline.
- Contributing generates a 25% flat progression for all Timelost weapon bounties in your inventory.
- Your Tower Obelisk will generate Polarized Fractaline for you each week equivalent to its Resonance Power.
- Increase its Resonance Power by upgrading other Obelisks.
- Players who donate more than 5,000 Polarized Fractaline before the end of the Season of Dawn will earn a Triumph and emblem.
That part about the Tower Obelisk generating Polarized Fractaline for you is actually the most important. If you check your Tower Obelisk, you’ll notice its Resonance Power. This is increased by leveling up the Obelisks found in the EDZ, Tangled Shore, Mars, and Nessus.
If you’ve leveled up these Obelisks enough times, you could get thousands of Polarized Fractaline each reset. You’ll be able to donate more resources to the Tower Obelisk to complete Destiny 2‘s Empyrean Foundation event.
How exactly do you unlock the event?
For this reset, you should get a quest called “Bright Future” when you speak to Saint-14. There have been reports of players who are unable to unlock the ability to donate Polarized Fractalines due to some unfinished quests. In case you don’t have this quest, make sure you’re on the character that has completed the two Corridors of Time missions to revive Saint-14 as well as “Tribute to the Colonies.”
Once you do have the “Bright Future” quest, your next task will be to defeat Inotam, Oblivion’s Triune in the Sundial. After that, you’ll need to gather 30 orbs of light (easily done in any team-based PvE activity). This should power up the Tower Obelisk’s core letting you donate Polarized Fractalines for the Empyrean Foundation event.
Donating resources is currently the fastest way to level up and complete your Timelost weapon bounties. Every 100 Polarized Fractaline you donate nets you 25% progress for all Timelost weapon bounties you hold, so go ahead and farm for a god-rolled Black Scorpion or Perfect Paradox.
Note: You can also buy an item called the Light-Fused Fractaline which costs 20,000 glimmer and 10 legendary shards. The Light-Fused Fractaline can be used on any of the four destination Obelisks to increase their level by one. This will reward you with even more resources during each weekly reset.
