Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals enters its second week and with it comes a new weekly Interference mission on Io. The steps are slightly similar to the previous week’s, but with a few caveats. Here’s our mini-guide to help you out.

Completing “Means to an End” in Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals’ second week
The second week of Destiny 2‘s Season of Arrivals has a few differences when completing the “Means to an End” quest. This is a pre-requisite before you can even start the weekly Interference mission.
As usual, you’ll need to pick up the quest from the Prismatic Recaster in the Tower Annex (seen above). Then, head to Io for the Contact public event, but, this time, it’ll take place in the Rupture zone. The Pyramid Scales will be floating around here so make sure you’re prepared or that there are other blueberries with you.
Kill the mobs, dupe the blooms, turn the event heroic, and eliminate the boss.
The Contact boss this week is a Taken ogre (Taken monstrosity). Periodically, it’ll summon wizards to make it immune. However, if you’ve got the DPS, you can nuke the boss to oblivion before the wizards even spawn. You should get this step done after a couple of completions.
Next up, you’ll need to collect some Umbral Essences. This week, the Umbral Essences can only be obtained from:
- Escalation Protocol
- Gambit/Gambit Prime
- The Reckoning
Note: You do earn bonus progress from ability kills.
So far, I’ve tried doing this part via Gambit Prime and Escalation Protocol. The former does let you obtain some essences via ability kills and whatnot, and I think the ones done by random teammates will also provide you with the quest item.
The latter, meanwhile, can be a little bit inconsistent. I’ve had numerous multi-kills while using my super, but I’ve hardly gotten essences. At the very least, if you find some decent blueberries, you can just farm waves 6 and wave 7 which, in total, would net you roughly 14%.
Weekly Interference mission: Week 2
After you’ve collected all the Umbral Essences, you can finally start the weekly Inteference mission on Io. You’ll be back at The Cradle, fighting Taken wizards, knights, ogres, and thralls.
That ends in a showdown against Savathun’s shrieker. After cutting its health down to half, you’ll get teleported to an entirely new version of Savathun’s Court.
This one looks like a shadow garden filled with lots of Taken “push” walls.
You’ll be fighting a lot of Hive mobs here and, eventually, you’ll need to cross a bridge while knights and thralls continue advancing.
After killing all of them, the seal will be broken and you’ll face Savathun’s shrieker once more. It’ll periodically close itself and summon more mobs, but eliminating them will allow you to damage the boss again.
Once it’s dead, pick up the Umbral Engram and use the portal to speak to Eris Morn.
Don’t forget to check out the Prismatic Recaster for your pinnacle reward. You can pick it up now if you want to, or just hold off until much later after you’ve done the other pinnacle activities in Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals. This should help you get closer to the 1,060 power level hard cap for this season.
