There’s a reason why every time I look at the Focus Activity in Destiny 2, Hunters are winning. As we all chase to permanently unlock the Skimmer before Guardian Games is over, we’re also all collectively pushing Hunters toward victory.
How are Hunters ruining Destiny 2 Guardian Games?
Hunters have been put in a sticky situation in Destiny 2’s 2024 Guardian Games. In the past, class performance was measured on the total Medallion score. This year, the winning class is measured by the average Medallion score of all the players who deposit a Medallion that day. And since more people are playing Hunters, the Medallion average and deposit rate are higher.
Mix the unbalanced Medallion scores with the fact that everyone is playing Hunter to get the Skimmer fast and you’ve got the answer to why Hunters are dominating the Guardian Games. It’s sad because Guardian Games are supposed to be a fair, fun time for all. Unfortunately, Guardian Games has been meta-gamed this year to get the Skimmer as fast as possible — but you can’t blame us because of how genuinely awesome the Skimmer is.
Fastest way to unlock the Allstar Vector Skimmer in Destiny 2
It’s been discovered that the fastest way to permanently unlock the Skimmer in Destiny 2 is to win three Focus Activities as the Hunter class. Switch to your Hunter, play a round or two of the Focus Activity, wait for it to end, and you’ll get progress for the Drop In quest. Do that three times and you get the Allstar Vector Skimmer.
You can also take your earned Medallions to the class you’re actually using during Guardian Games. For example, if you win two Silver and one Bronze during the Supremacy Focus Activity with your Hunter, you can switch to your Warlock, bank the Medallions, collect your Focus Activity Champions Package, and earn progress in the Drop In quest. This method is much easier than getting into the top 10% in Nightfall.
