How to get and farm Echoes weapons in Destiny 2

Getting Echoes weapons in Destiny 2 (the gold Vex weapons) is as simple as completing each of Failsafe’s quests as well as completing Breach Executable runs. This seasonal — or should I say episodic — activity will allow you to get either the base and red border versions of the Echoes weapons as well as Echo Engrams which you can decrypt and focus with Failsafe in H.E.L.M. You can craft these weapons too, so keep that in mind when aiming for god rolls.

All 10 Echoes weapons’ God Rolls in Destiny 2

Here are the 10 Echoes weapons’ god rolls for PvP and PvE in Destiny 2. After detailing the god rolls, check out our ranking of all the weapons to help you determine which ones to chase first.

Veiled Threat

Veiled Threat
Screenshot: PC Invasion
  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Arrowhead Break
    • Magazine: Tactical Mag
    • Perk 1: Threat Detector
    • Perk 2: Surrounded
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
    • Magazine: Steady Rounds
    • Perk 1: Threat Detector
    • Perk 2: Moving Target

The Veiled Threat auto rifle provides a perk pool that makes it usable — but not great — for PvE. Threat Detector will increase its reload speed, stability, and handling when you have enemies nearby, which combines perfectly with Surrounded, which increases its damage when three or more enemies are close to you. Use Arrowhead Break to increase its recoil and handling and Tactical Mag to further increase its reload speed and stability while providing a larger magazine.

For PvP, Threat Detector and Moving Target are the way to go due to the nature of Crucible playlist matches. While the first provides boosts to the aforementioned stats, Moving Target will favor strafing while aiming down sights since it will apply movement speed and target acquisition boosts. Corkscrew Rifling takes care of handling, stability, and range, while Steady Rounds further increases stability and range, with an important airborne effectiveness bonus.

Lost Signal

Lost Signal

  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Linear Compensator
    • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
    • Perk 1: Auto-Loading Holster
    • Perk 2: Reverberation
  • PvP
    • Barrel: Countermass
    • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
    • Perk 1: Quickdraw
    • Perk 2: Wellspring

Lost Signal is a PvE weapon and pretty much nothing else. Auto-Loading Holster reloads your holstered weapon while using this grenade launcher, with Reverberation providing further detonation potential by increasing their size. Use Linear Compensator to also increase the blast radius alongside projectile speed and stability, and High-Velocity Rounds to boost the Lost Signal’s velocity and reload speed.

If, for whatever reason, you decide to use the Lost Signal in PvP, choose Quickdraw to, well, increase our drawing speed, and Wellspring to generate ability energy after getting kills. High-Velocity Rounds are the way to go too, but this time choose Countermass to boost its stability, recoil control, and handling.

Sightline Survey

Sightline Survey

  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Arrowhead Break
    • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
    • Perk 1: Enlightened Action
    • Perk 2: Voltshot
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
    • Magazine: Extended Mag
    • Perk 1: Keep Away
    • Perk 2: Kill Clip

Sightline Survey, on the other hand, is pretty proficient in both PvE and PvP. Starting with PvE, your goal is fast reload speed to proc Voltshot. Choose Enlightened Action to increase your reload speed and handling after dealing damage and Voltshot to make it jolt when you reload after defeating a target. Choose Arrowhead Break to increase recoil control and handling and Accurized Rounds to increase its range.

Keep Away will increase its accuracy, range, and reload speed in PvP when no targets are around, and Kill Clip to increase the Sightline Survey’s damage when reloading after a kill, a process similar to the one that triggers Voltshot. Corkscrew Rifling increases its range, stability, and handling while Extended Mag does the same with its reload speed, magazine, and airborne effectiveness, all important stats for Crucible encounters.

Corrasion

Corrasion

  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Fluted Barrel
    • Magazine: Flared Magwell
    • Perk 1: Eddy Current
    • Perk 2: Voltshot
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Smallbore
    • Magazine: Steady Rounds
    • Perk 1: High-Impact Reserves
    • Perk 2: Frenzy

Corrasion is not available yet, but we can still predict some trait combinations that could work on PvE and PvP. In the case of PvE, Eddy Current increases handling and reload speed after sprinting or while amplified, and well, we all know what Voltshot does: it Jolts after reloading after a kill. You can see the synergy there. Fluted Barrel boosts its stability and handling and Flared Magwell does the same with its reload speed, while further increasing its stability.

PvP will not have the best traits in the game, but you can use High-Impact Reserves to boost the Corrasion final rounds’ damage. Frenzy might not be as great of an option, but will increase your damage if you are in combat for an extended time. Use Smallbore to increase its range and stability and Steady Rounds for range, stability, and airborne effectiveness.

Timeworn Wayfarer

Timeworn Wayfarer

  • PvE
    • Barrel: Smallbore
    • Magazine: Flared Magwell
    • Perk 1: Dual Loader
    • Perk 2: Incandescent
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Polygonal Rifling
    • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
    • Perk 1: Dual Loader
    • Perk 2: Precision Instrument

The Timeworn Wayfarer scout rifle works great both in PvE and PvP. Dual Loader for both PvE and PvP is a no-brainer since it reloads an additional shot at a time, with Incandescent being a great choice for PvE specifically thanks to the amount of scorch you will be able to spread. Smallbore will increase its stability and further boost its range, while Flared Magwell provides stability and reload speed that complements itself perfectly with Dual Loader.

In the case of PvP, use Precision Instrument with Dual Loader to provide precision damage boost stacks after dealing sustained damage. Increase its stability with Polygonal Rifling and use Accurized Rounds to boost the Timeworn Wayfarer’s range.

Aberrant Action

Aberrant Action

  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Linear Compensator
    • Magazine: High-Explosive Ordnance
    • Perk 1: Ambitious Assassin
    • Perk 2: Incandescent
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
    • Magazine: Implosion Rounds
    • Perk 1: Threat Detector
    • Perk 2: Snapshot Sights

While everyone is waiting for the Aberrant Action solar rocket-assisted frame side arm, which competes directly with The Call, we are already sure that it will excel in PvE. Ambitious Assassin will work marvels with Incandescent when you stack rapid kills, overflowing your magazine which will, in turn, increase the amount of scorch you spread by all the bullets you’ll be shooting. To make it even more chaotic, use Linear Compensator to increase the weapon’s blast radius, projectile speed, and stability and High-Explosive Ordnance for even more blast radius and velocity.

Threat Detector will help you out during your PvP encounters by increasing the weapon’s reload speed, stability, and handling, with Snapshot Sights providing a vital ADS speed bonus that will probably get you out of a sudden encounter with an enemy Guardian. Smart Drift Control will help you out with stability, recoil control, velocity, and handling boosts. Finally, Implosion Rounds will provide velocity and stability bonuses while slightly reducing the blast radius.

Chronophage

Chronophage
Screenshot: PC Invasion
  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Smallbore
    • Magazine: Tactical Battery
    • Perk 1: Repulsor Brace
    • Perk 2: Destabilizing Rounds
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Fluted Barrell
    • Magazine: Light Battery
    • Perk 1: Feeding Frenzy
    • Perk 2: Fragile Focus

Chronophage is an upcoming Void trace rifle that is yet to be introduced in the game. Once it does, aim to get Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds traits for PvE. The first will provide an overshield after defeating a Void-debuffed target while the second will cause nearby targets to become volatile after final blows. Increase its range and stability with Smallbore and Tactical Battery, the latter also boosting the Chronophage’s reload speed.

Feeding Frenzy and Fragile Focus will be your go-to traits for PvP since there aren’t many powerful options for the Crucible. Feeding Frenzy increases your weapon’s reload speed over time after getting rapid kills. Fragile Focus will reward your survival ability by increasing your weapon’s range as long as your shield is still active. Use Fluted Barrel to increase its stability and handling speed and Light Battery to boost its reload and handling speed even further.

Speleologist

Speleologist
Screenshot: PC Invasion
  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Extended Barrel
    • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
    • Perk 1: Envious Assassin
    • Perk 2: Incandescent
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Fluted Barrel
    • Magazine: Flared Magwell
    • Perk 1: Firmly Planted
    • Perk 2: Killing Tally or Target Lock

A solar machine gun, the Speleologist is yet to be introduced in Destiny 2 Episode: Echoes. For PvE, Envious Assasin will help you transfer ammo to the magazine from reserves when defeating targets with other weapons, which will increase the number of bullets you’ll shoot to deal Incandescent scorch around the area. Use the Extended Barrel to increase the Speleologist’s range and recoil control while reducing its handling speed. Finally, Accurized Rounds will increase your weapon’s range.

PvP will have your Speleologist go for Firmly Planted and Killing Tally. The first one will boost your accuracy, stability, and handling whenever you fire while crouched while the second one will boost your weapon’s damage after landing kills. If you are feeling skillful, you can also choose Target Lock to increase the damage you deal by continuously keeping the Speleologist on target.

Faith-Keeper

Faith Keeper
Screenshot: PC Invasion
  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Volatile Launch
    • Magazine: Black Powder
    • Perk 1: Danger Zone or Repulsor Brace
    • Perk 2: Destabilizing Rounds or Lasting Impression
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Countermass
    • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
    • Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier
    • Perk 2: Explosive Light

A personal favorite of mine, the Faith-Keeper is a great and versatile rocket launcher for PvE. Danger Zone or Repulsor Bracer can occupy your trait slot with them increasing your weapon’s blast radius when surrounded or rewarding you with an overshield after defeating Void-debuffed targets, respectively.

For the other trait slot, Destabilizing Rounds will cause targets to become volatile after landing final blows while Lasting Impression makes your rockets attach on impact, making them detonate with a delay but with an increased blast radius and damage. Both of these options work well with Volatile Launcher which will increase the blast radius and velocity of your rockets and with Black Powder, which further increases your blast radius and stability.

PvP-wise, the Faith-Keeper does not have many options that allow it to shine against other Guardians. Impulse Amplifier will increase your projective velocity and reload speed, while the Explosive Light trait will reward you with a single projectile blast radius and damage bonus after picking up an Orb of Power. To make the Faith-Keeper a bit more stable, use Countermass to increase its stability, handling speed, and recoil control, and High-Velocity Rounds to increase its projectile and reload speed, complementing the pre-existing boosts provided by Impulse Amplifier.

Ill Omen

Ill Omen
Screenshot: PC Invasion
  • PvE:
    • Barrel: Hungry Edge
    • Magazine: Balanced Guard
    • Perk 1: Tireless Blade
    • Perk 2: Cold Steel
  • PvP:
    • Barrel: Honed Edge
    • Magazine: Burst Guard
    • Perk 1: Unrelenting
    • Perk 2: En Garde

Ill Omen is very capable of defeating enemies in PvE, but not in PvP. At all. During PvE, choose Tireless Blade and Cold Steel to provide sword ammo for every other powered sword skill and to slow targets after powered sword skills, respectively. As you can see, keeping your sword ammo reserves full with this weapon is vital for its success. Hungry Edge, therefore, is a great way to keep this weapon viable by increasing its magazine and ammo capacity, while Balanced Guard improves your guard resistance, inventory size, guard endurance, and stability.

If you choose to use Ill Omen for PvP playlists, don’t, but if you end up doing so, pick Unrelenting and En Garde. Unrelenting will help your survivability by triggering health generation after rapidly defeating targets, with Guardians granting more. En Garde will increase your sword damage when you perform quick attacks after you swap to this weapon. So, speed and accuracy will be your main goal for Ill Omen PvP purposes. Use Honed Edge to increase your sword damage to enable faster kills, and Burst Guard to grant guard resistance and stability.

Best Echoes weapons ranked worst to best

Note that we will update this list with the full arsenal of Echoes weapons when all of them are released during Act 2 and Act 3 in the upcoming months.

6. Ill Omen

Destiny 2 Ill Omen
Screenshot: PC Invasion

Ill Omen, while being a fun sword to use thanks to its caster frame archetype, doesn’t provide anything else in terms of versatility across Destiny 2’s various modes. Cold Steel makes it a decent PvE sword, but you will find your heavy ammo dropping fast and, if you try to play PvP with this sword, you will soon be seeing the “Defeated” screen very often.

5. Veiled Threat

Destiny 2 Veiled Threat
Screenshot: PC Invasion

Now, that’s a weird-looking sight, but some of you really like its look. Huh. Anyway, the Veiled Threat is just the definition of meh, but you can still use some of its perks to half-decently face enemy combatants or Guardians in either PvE or PvP. To be honest, there are older auto rifles that make this an odd choice, but hey, it looks nice, right? I prefer the Khvostov 7G-0X.

4. Lost Signal

Destiny 2 Lost Signal
Screenshot: PC Invasion

Lost Signal is kind of a weird weapon in the sense that it is equally loved and hated by the community. It certainly has potential thanks to its new Area Denial Frame archetype which turns this grenade launcher into a Legendary Witherhoard. If Bungie decides to boost its damage a bit more, then it will certainly rank a bit higher than it already is, but it’s a great and fun weapon to use.

3. Faith-Keeper

Destiny 2 Faith Keeper
Screenshot: PC Invasion

A great void rocket launcher, the Faith-Keeper is a great choice for those Guardians who want to pack a punch but are struggling a bit with aiming. Well, Precision Frame takes care of that with auto-tracking missiles, which still need some aiming chops for them to land. Still, it does feature a good set of perks that you can use across the board, so definitely give it a shot.

2. Sightline Survey

Destiny 2 Sightline Survey
Screenshot: PC Invasion

Sightline Survey is a great 180-hand cannon that has a great assortment of perks that will make it more than capable of dealing damage and chaos in both PvE and PvP. It’s a fast-firing weapon that’s great for add-clear thanks to Voltshot and the ability to reload this weapon fast.

1. Timeworn Wayfarer

Destiny 2 Timeworn Wayfarer 2
Screenshot: PC Invasion

Finally, the Timeworn Wayfarer is a solid Echoes choice thanks again to its stellar perk selection like Dual Loader, Heal Clip, Incandescent, and Precision Instrument. It’s very effective in add-clear providing huge damage output capabilities; its only downside is it’s harder to use at close-ranges.

And that’s it for now! Once the remainder of the weapons appear in the game, we will update and rank them accordingly so that you can face the Episode’s challenges such as the Enigma Protocol mission. Aim for those red borders and it is time to craft!
