The summer heat is in full effect, and what better way to cool yourself off than checking out this year’s Solstice event in Destiny 2. You get a questline for the month of Solstice guiding you through the activity to some stellar-looking armor. So let’s bash some bonfires and look at our Destiny 2 Celebrating Solstice walkthrough.

Before we jump into the quest’s specific steps, we’ll give you a quick rundown of the main mechanics of the event. You’ll obtain the Solstice Forge in your very first step of the Celebrating Solstice quest by talking to Eva Levante in the middle of the Tower.

When you arrive, you’ll notice the Tower’s gotten a bit of a green makeover thanks to the Summer Solstice. You get the Solstice Forge and can start your journey through the grind. And thankfully, no one seems to be too worried about the narrative beats in A Rising Chorus Act II to stop the Solstice.

Step 1 — Acquire at least two Solstice Forge bounties

Once you grab the forge, head to your Quest tab under Quests and right-click the Solstice Forge. You’ll want to grab one daily bounty each for the helmet and gauntlets, keeping in mind that you can only hold one bounty at a time per armor piece.

Solstice Forge explained

The Solstice Forge is how Guardians are able to craft the bright and shiny event armor. When you complete the Bonfire Bash or any other activity in Destiny 2, you’ll earn Silver Leaves. Silver Leaves allow you to grab bounties for pieces of Solstice armor, as well as rerolling the choices of bounties you have for each gear piece.

That’s the gist of how the Solstice Forge works, now let’s put it into practice and continue the questline.

Step 2 — Complete and claim the rewards for any Solstice Forge bounty

Once you have acquired your two bounties, it’s time to go out into the solar system and complete them. For example, I was tasked with defeating combats with Arc weapon damage and generating Orbs of Power. These bounties can be completed however you see fit, such as participating in the Bonfire Bash seasonal activity, and will reward you with Alloy when completed. Each piece of armor has a different Alloy you must acquire by completing the armor-specific bounties.

I chose to try out the limited-time activity and was able to complete one of my quests in one run. It should be said that this portion of the quest doesn’t require you to complete both the bounties you claimed to progress.

Steps 3 & 4 — Claim the first challenge from the Solstice event card and speak to Eva in the Tower

After completing step 2 and claiming the reward for the bounties, head over to the Quest tab and select the Solstice challenge tab. Claiming your first challenge progresses the quest and gets you the brand-new Fortunate Star bow, along with some Glimmer and an Event Ticket.

Travel back to the Tower to speak to Eva once again, and this time she unlocks the entirety of the forge. This progress allows you to be able to craft every single piece of Soltice 2024 armor, otherwise known as Sublime armor.

Step 5 — Refresh a category of bounties within the Solstice Forge

A majority of these steps are made in part to instruct players who are new to the event. But if you experienced the Kindling glitch, you know that Destiny can be a bit confusing when it comes to in-game tutorials.

Head back to the Solstice Forge menu from the Quest tab, and there is a set of options to the left of every bounty row to refresh the armor bounties for 5 Silver Leaves per armor piece.

Step 6 — Collect Alloys in order to purchase an Ingot quest

Now here’s where Guardians will spend the majority of their Solstice time grinding, thanks to having to get 100 Alloy per armor piece. This accumulates to a total of 500 Alloys across every single piece of armor and each bounty will give you either 5, 15, or 50 Alloy depending on the difficulty of the bounty.

There’s a myriad of ways to get these Alloy, and no way is exactly the wrong way. However, if you want to snag the armor as soon as possible, there are a few methods to help speed up the process.

Some +50 Alloy bounties require you to complete encounters in Raids and Dungeons. So if you have 3-4 other Guardians attempting this grind, you should grab these bounties when you can and complete some easy encounters from previous raids.

What’s more, there is one more +50 bounty I’ve seen, and all you need to do is earn points in Nightfalls. This can be used by solo players or teams since Nightfalls allow matchmaking and can be completed regardless of party members.

Alternatively, if you’re a solo player and don’t have the leaves to refresh your bounties, you should grab the +15 Alloy quests that just need you to defeat enemies with a certain sub-class element or weapon. It’s recommended you run through the Shuro-Chi checkpoint from the Last Wish since there are a ton of enemies jumbled together at the start of the encounter.

Steps 7 & 8 — Acquire any Ingot quest and complete it by participating in the Bonfire Bash activity

Once you’ve gotten 100 Alloy for one piece of armor, your questline will update and ask you to grab the Ingot quest for your respective armor. With the quest in hand, all that’s left to do is to run up a Bonfire Bash activity and complete it.

This should take you no time at all, as my runs of the bash took an average of 8-9 minutes.

Step 9 — Use the Ingot you have just forged to acquire a piece of Sublime armor

Navigate over to the Solstice Forge and select the Ingot quest you just completed to successfully grab your first piece of Sublime armor. This is by no means the end of your Solstice journey, as you have the opportunity to do everything all over again.

Step 10 — Speak with Eva in the Tower

Head back to Eva and she congratulates you for your achievement by rewarding you with 50 Silver Leaves. This is exactly what you need to continue your armor grind, as you’ll need a ton of Silver Leaves to grab the bounties and re-roll them.

Grabbing all the pieces of Sublime armor isn’t the end of your Summer journey, as you still need to make them incandescent by stoking 20 Bonfires in the Bonfire Bash activity per armor.

If you haven’t completed your base armor set, Eva will offer the same Celebrating Solstice quest after you complete it, this time starting you out at step 6. The 2024 Solstice event lasts until August 27th, so be sure to get the big grind out of the way and show off your glowy armor in the coming Destiny 2 Episodes releasing later this year.
