Destiny 2 Black Armory

Here’s What You Can Expect From Destiny 2’s Black Armory DLC

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The main content drops for the Forsaken expansion in Destiny 2 are just about to wrap up. From secret exotics and quests to hidden wishes in the Last Wish raid, and the rewards brought by the Festival of the Lost, it’s been a fun ride these past few months. The latest addition, the weekly quests that let you nab the returning Thunderlord, was the proverbial icing on the cake. And so we move on to the next chapter in Destiny 2 — the Black Armory DLC which releases on December 4.

Destiny 2 Black Armory Season Of The Forge

Season of the SWEEPER BOT HAS A SWORD? Ah no, that’s going to be called Season of the Shadow and it’s still a ways off for the Penumbra DLC.

Season Of The Forge

The first thing you can expect is that a new season will kick off just before Black Armory launches. It’s called Season of the Forge and will begin on November 27. On that same day, Bungie will be releasing a developer ViDoc and gameplay calendar that would see how the rest of our Destiny 2 journey would pan out.

When taking a look at the updated description in the Annual Pass, it has this description for the upcoming DLC:

Discover weapons of Light and Fury. Add the Black Armory’s treasure to your legend. Black Armory will be delivered over the course of the Season of the Forge from December 4th to March 4th. This includes access to the Black Armory, new activity: The Lost Forges, new Raid, Exotic Weapons, Quests, Triumphs and Collections.

What’s In A Name?

The Lost Forges sounds like a nifty activity name, but it could also be the rumored horde mode originally leaked on Reddit by AnonTheNine. Although the leaker has since deleted their account, many of their revelations did come true. One of those happens to be the return of the Thunderlord. Another weapon that AnonTheNine says would make a return in Destiny 2 is The Last Word. The hand cannon, according to him, will be back in Black Armory.

There’s also an important key term used in the description. It says “raid” instead of “raid lair.” The past two raid lairs — Eater of Worlds and Spire of Stars — were considered as such since they were smaller, shorter experiences, and took place in the Leviathan. There is a possibility that Black Armory will provide an endgame activity set in an entirely new location, albeit one that’s as long as a regular raid.

Oh, and there will also be another Pinnacle Weapon (think Redrix’s Claymore or Redrix’s Broadsword) that can be obtained in Black Armory. However, it’s going to be for Gambit.

Other than that, everything’s still up in the air. We’ll find out more once Bungie releases the juicy details on November 27. Now all I’m hoping for is that weapon that Forge Exo bot is holding is a pocket Gjallarhorn.
