Now, before anyone goes off on a rant that this game is condoning a cruel and unnecessary sport, let’s just remember that this is, in fact, a game and that no real animals will be hurt in the partaking of the action.
Yes it’s kind of wrong, and yes it grates those moral fibres when you have an animal in your sights, and yes it’s even kinda wrong to make a game glorifying it, but Deer Hunter Tournament was one of the hunting genres all time best selling games and now it’s back with more multiplayer and tournament features.
Virtual hunters will have a selection of game modes to choose from, including a variety of gameplay options which allow scouting and tracking missions. The game will have true-to-life animal behaviours which will make it all the more heartbreaking to pull the trigger. But do remember, the hunter can become the hunted, and when you’re out on the prowl, be aware for natures own weapons in the shape of bears and lions and other mean-ass mothers.
“We are confident that this new edition with its first-ever online multiplayer tournament gameplay, enhanced artwork and mechanics, exotic game and locales will provide fans with the ultimate in realistic hunting experiences.” Said Jim Wilson, CEO, Atari, Inc.
So polish your gun and get that mantelpiece ready. By autumn you’ll be able to go kill yourself and innocent animal.
