Your journey as Colt in Deathloop will culminate in one very bloody day. After you’ve eliminated all the Visionaries in a single cycle, you’ll also need to fly the Rakyetoplan to the strange facility that seems to be empowering the loop. There, you’ll have some fateful decisions to make. Here’s our Deathloop guide to help you obtain all of the game’s endings, as well as the decisions with regard to Julianna. We also talk about whether there’s a NewGame+ or campaign continuation that you can look forward to after completing your Deathloop run.
Note: For more information, check out our Deathloop guides and features hub. Likewise, please be reminded that this guide contains minor spoilers.
Deathloop endings guide – How to obtain all endings in the game
The Rakyetoplan will crash just as Colt arrives at the facility. At this exact moment, I would advise you to make a backup folder of your save files. You’ll find these in: C:\Users\<PC User>\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Deathloop\base\save game\<string of numbers representing your Steam user ID>\SLOT 1.
Copy the files inside the SLOT1 folder and paste them somewhere else. The reason we’re doing this now is so we can, eventually, check out the other possible decisions without needing to go through an entire day’s cycle.
Continue onwards until you meet up with Julianna. It seems that Colt’s daughter has a proposition. She brings out a wooden case with two antique dueling pistols. You’re asked to pick up the weapon which leads to a standoff between Colt and Julianna. Julianna will then begin counting to three. It’s time to make your choice.
Ending #1: Do not shoot
If you let Julianna count to three without shooting her, she’ll realize that Colt trusts her enough. The two will, basically, stay on Blackreef to redo the entire day over and over. Colt even jokes about how he’ll throw Aleksis into the meat grinder before having a party later.
Julianna also laughs and calls him “dad,” which they both find weird. I guess we can call this the Happy Family ending in Deathloop.
Ending #2: Shoot Julianna, then jump
Before Julianna finishes counting to three, you can go and shoot her. You’ll then see lots of lines blurring in the background, some urging you to jump off the edge to break the loop. Go ahead and do just that.
Colt wakes up on the beach. Julianna has her gun pointed at his face, but she teleports away. It does seem like the loop has been broken, but there are ramifications. The beach itself looks different (darker and no longer covered in snow). Likewise, in the distance, you’ll see a malevolent storm, possibly caused by destroying the facility.
Ending #3: Shoot Julianna, then sit down
Similar to the above, you’ll shoot Julianna. But, instead of jumping, just interact with the chair so Colt sits down.
It implies that Colt isn’t ready to go through with everything just yet and he begins the daily cycle anew.
What are the differences between these endings in Deathloop and is there a NewGame+ mode?
To clarify, all these options allow you to continue your campaign in Deathloop (not necessarily a NewGame+ mode). You’ll still see the menu that allows you to select leads and zones. Perhaps you’d still like to farm the upgrades for a particular Slab power or maybe find a golden/legendary weapon like the Sepulchra Breteira. You can do these, without issues, so don’t fret about finishing the campaign.
Moreover, only Ending #1 and Ending #2 are considered “true” endings. You’ll receive an achievement, you’ll get to watch the end credits, and, you’ll be told that you can continue the campaign as is. However, there’s no post-mission infusion screen. That means you’ll lose all the stuff that you acquired in your “everyone dies” run.
Ending #3 is more of a middle-ground approach. You don’t see the end credits at all. But, you’ll get to watch a short cartoony cinematic with Colt detailing what he needs to do to break the loop. Lastly, this leads to an infusion screen, so you can keep some of the powers/weapons that you’ve found recently before redoing the cycle.
Note: If you’re able to find any other secret endings in Deathloop, let us know.
Deathloop is available via Steam and its official website.
