DayZ’s price changes and schedule has not gone down well with some gamers so Dean Hall steps back.

Yesterday Bohemia revealed their development schedule for DayZ which also included a a price increase for the complete game once it leaves Early Access. It was December 2013 that DayZ entered Early Access and tough decisions were made in the past year with regards to the the game’s scope which included a revamp of the engine. It’s been a slow development process.

Development still continues and yesterday’s news that the final game will not be released until the start of 2016 following a beta test in Q4 2015 has not gone down well with everyone. A major problem appears to be the increase in the game’s price which has Bohemia has outlined as $43.99 (34,99 EUR). Currently the game is available for $30.00 during the Steam sale and will then go up to $35.00 once the sale finishes.

Reddit users decided to vent their frustration at the timeline and the price increases which has now prompted Dean Hall to remove himself from Reddit completely.

While it looks like Dean is taking his ball and going home, it’s probably smart move, because let’s face it, the decision has been made as “part of a gradual price change as we progress with the development” according to Bohemia so it’s not going to change.

Reddit can be a terrible place to hang out when a community rallies against a decision so removing himself from the site and spending less time reading bickering threads can only be good for the game.
