In what is perhaps not a shocking twist (since Arkham Asylum used it too), it turns out that Batman: Arkham City’s PC version will be hamstrung by Games For Windows Live.
Let me tell you a little story about trying to get Fable III working through GfWL.
As the game launched for the first time, it changed my monitor resolution without asking me. Then it requested that I sign in with my LIVE profile. That’s the same LIVE profile I was using to run Games For Windows Live, the programme I was currently logged in to and trying to launch Fable III from.
Next, an update for Fable III popped up. After grabbing this, I went back to trying to sign in. Oh dear, downloading the update had disrupted that process so I’d have to quit out and relaunch everything again.
The game restarts. I sign in to LIVE. Fable III crashes and never runs again. The end.
So, overall, I’d say Batman: Arkham City going with Games For Windows Live again isn’t great news for PC users.
Batman: Arkham City is due for release in October on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Read my E3 preview for more Bat-details.
