Dead Island 2: Zombie Health Bars On or Off?

You can truly get immersed in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2 is challenging already, but players seem to up the difficulty on their own. Apart from being outnumbered, and managing your resources, you can turn off the zombies’ health bar. While it’s optional, doing this adds more immersion to the game — it keeps you on your toes. Both options have their own qualities, and both will offer something different. Depending on how you want to play, this could be something worth looking into. So the question is: Zombie health bars on or off in Dead Island 2?

Health bars on or off for zombies in Dead Island 2

This all comes down to how you want to play. If you want to have a casual time taking on zombies, it may be a good idea to keep the health bar on. This way you can see the damage you’re doing. It may take you out of Dead Island 2, but you’ll be running into fewer issues. Additionally, you can anticipate more when the health bar is on. If you come across a high-level zombie, you’ll be able to strategize and deal with it better if you have that information.

If you opt to turn off the zombie’s health bar in Dead Island 2, get ready to fight. Since Dead Island 2 has multiplayer, playing with the health bar off with another player can be easier. But, both of you have to be on high alert at all times. While this may seem like a nuisance,  you can get pulled into the game better this way. According to a Reddit post, you can take things further by turning off the quick-time events as well, resulting in even deeper immersion. As long as you have some powerful weapons like the Electrocutor Officer Sword, you may have an easier time dealing with enemies.

So what’s the best way to play Dead Island 2?

Both playstyles offer something different. If you’re looking for immersion, turn off the health bar. However, to make things easy and get into the game faster, turning on the health bar could make things less difficult.
