Dead Island 2 Haus – How to find the Hog Roaster

Let's roast some zombies.

The Hog Roaster is a brand new weapon you can find in Dead Island 2 Haus. The Hog Roaster deals a lot of damage, so here’s how you can get it in Haus.

Finding the Hog Roaster in Dead Island 2

The good news is that it’s hard to miss the Hog Roaster in Dead Island 2 Haus if you know where to look. But I know how easy it is to miss since I managed to walk right past it on my playthrough. When you get to Haus, you’ll want to proceed with the main quest until you reach the Long Piglet’s Diner.

This is during the part of The Invitation where you’re looking for Yong-Ho’s head. Now before you get into the Diner itself, you’ll have to take down Long Piglet himself, but he’s not too bad of an opponent.

Once you gain access to the interior of the building, head around to the back of the main counter in the restaurant. Eagle-eyed players should already spot the blue glow of the Hog Roaster when they walk in. But if you can’t make it out, head behind the counter and look to the right. There, you’ll find the Hog Roaster in all of its bloody glory in Dead Island 2.

Is the Hog Roaster a good weapon?

Now this is an axe-type weapon, even though it looks more like a machete. But this means that it’s perfect for hacking off limbs and stopping zombies dead in their tracks. It also deals fire damage, so you can decimate some enemies if you maim them with this weapon.

However, the Hog Roaster is only considered a blue weapon in Dead Island Haus. I feel that it should deserve purple or at least legendary. That fact that it is ranked so low meant I didn’t really use it that much.

I also feel that I really just stuck to a lot of the weapons I had from the base game throughout the expansion. Although the new weapons were fun, I didn’t feel like many of them brought much to the table. The fact that completing the base game already had me kitted out with legendary weapons meant that any time I picked something up less than that, it just went straight to storage.

The Hog Roaster is a fun concept, but it goes the same way as many of the other weapons in Dead Island 2 Haus and just doesn’t live up to the rest. Although slashing through zombies with this meat cleaver is great fun, there are simply better options out there.
