Best Vecna build in Dead by Daylight

Vecna, the Lich, is a powerful entity from the Dungeons & Dragons universe who is now available as a Killer in Dead by Daylight. The only way to succeed with Vecna is to use the right Perks and understand the correct playstyle. Let’s go over how to build Vecna in Dead by Daylight.

Vecna Power: Vile Darkness

Vecna has the Power called Vile Darkness which grants him a bevy of spells to cast, which may be familiar to D&D fans. Here’s how each spell works:

SpellDescription
FlyGrants the ability to fly across the environment, ignoring dropped Pallets and Windows.
Flight of the DamnedGrants the ability to conjure five Flying Entities that pass through obstacles and injure Survivors.
Dispelling SphereGrants the ability to cast a moving invisible Sphere that reveals Survivors through Killer Instinct and disables their Magic Items for 60 seconds.
Mage HandGrants the ability to create a Magical Hand that lifts dropped Pallets back upright or blocks already upright ones for four seconds.

Alongside these powers, Vecna will spawn special Treasure Chests throughout the map which contain Magic Items for the Survivors. They’ll receive either Boots or Gauntlets of these types:

  • Skyguard: Reveals the Auro of The Lich during Fly.
  • Nightwatch: Reveals the Auras of Flying Entities during Flight of the Damned.
  • Archivist: Turns the Dispelling Sphere invisible.
  • Interloper: Reveals the Auras of Pallets affected by Mage Hand. Grants a +7% Haste Status Effect for three seconds.

The cool thing about these Treasure Chests is that some of them will be Mimics. These Mimics can bite Survivors who dare to disturb them. Once in a while, these chests may contain these rare items:

  • Hand of Vecna: Rushing into a locker teleports the Survivor to a different locker that is at least 10 meters away. Triggers a loud noise on the target locker and Killer Instinct on them for five seconds.
  • Eye of Vecna: Rushing out of a locker has the following effects for 12 seconds:
    • Suppresses their Aura, Scratch Marks, Blood Pools, and Grunts of Pain.
    • Grants them complete invisibility.
    • Grants +25% Haste.
    • Triggers Killer Instinct for three seconds after becoming visible again.

Best Vecna Perks

While Killers can carry four different Perks, Vecna comes with three unique ones. Some of these aren’t the best for a perfect Vecna build, but let’s go over Vecna’s Perks before we look at the best ones.

PerkDescription
Dark ArroganceWhen everything is going right, you are an inescapable inevitability. Increases your Vaulting speed in exchange for increased vulnerability to being blinded and stunned:
Permanently increases the duration of Killer Blinds by any means and the duration of Pallet Stuns by +25 %.
Permanently increases your Vaulting speed by 15/20/25 %.
Languid TouchYour dreadful aura is so suffocating that even terrifying scenes tire your prey. When a Survivor scares off a Crow within 36 meters of your location, Languid Touch activates:
– Causes that Survivor to suffer from the Exhausted Status Effect for 6/8/10 seconds.
Languid Touch has a cool-down of 20 seconds.
Weave AttunementYou are so attuned to magical energies that you can sense even minor ripples around enchantments. Whenever an Item is depleted for the first time, it is automatically dropped:
– The Auras of dropped Survivor Items are revealed to you, as well as the Auras of any Survivors within 12 meters of them.
– Causes Survivors picking up a Survivor Item to suffer from the Oblivious Status Effect for 20/25/30 seconds.

If we’re attempting to choose the best Perks for Vecna, here are the four Perks you should look out for if you want the best Vecna build:

Beginner Vecna build

  • Languid Touch (The Lich)
  • Weave Attunement (The Lich)
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death
  • Bitter Murmur

For beginner players, you should choose at least Languid Touch and Weave Attunement from Vecna’s arsenal. Languid Touch debuffs Survivors if they scare off a Crow, which can work in your favor if you’re chasing them. Weave Attunement is also nice since you’ll be able to see Survivors’ Auras when they’re near items. It also debuffs Survivors upon picking up the item.

I would also go for Hex: No One Escapes Death for a beginner Perk since it gives you a boost in movement speed once all exit gates are powered on and if there’s a Dull Totem remaining. Survivors will also become permanently Exposed which makes them vulnerable to your Basic Attack.

Finally, Bitter Murmur is another great Perk for a beginner Vecna. This will give you the Aura of all Survivors within 16 meters of a completed Generator for five seconds. Also, after the final Generator is finished, all Survivors’ Auras are revealed to you for 5/7/10 seconds.

Veteran Vecna build

  • Weave Attunement (The Lich)
  • Barbecue and Chili (The Cannibal)
  • Sloppy Butcher
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist)

If you’re a Veteran player these are some of the best Vecna Perks you can put together. Keep Weave Attunement so you can see Survivors’ Auras whenever they’re within 12 meters of an item and they’ll get hit with the Oblivious debuff once the item is picked up.

Barbecue and Chili comes from The Cannibal, and this Perk reveals all Survivors’ Auras who are at least 60/50/40 meters away after hooking a Survivor for five seconds. This will give you a huge advantage to spotting Survivors during your matches.

Sloppy Butcher is a general Killer Perk that makes wounds inflicted by your Basic Attacks towards Survivors to cause the debuffs Haemorrhage and Mangled for 70/80/90 seconds. At the same time, this increases the Bleeding frequency of injured Survivors, as well as increasing the Regression rate at which Healing Progression is lost due to Haemorrhage.

Finally, Scourage Hook: Pain Resonance is a great final Perk from The Artist you should use for Vecna. Four random Hooks at the start changed to Scourge Hooks, and you start with four Tokens. anytime you hook a Survivor on a Scourge Hook for the first time, one Token is consumed which can cause nasty effects to Generators such as progression regression or causing Survivors to scream who are repairing Generators.

Dead By Daylight Best Vecna Build Playstyle

Best Vecna playstyle

Vecna is best used when taking advantage of his spells that can boost his mobility around the map. Use Fly to ignore obstacles like Pallets and Windows, and use Mage Hand to lift Pallets. The Perks alongside his build are also focused on revealing Survivor locations, which can be aided with his spell Dispelling Sphere that reveals Survivors while disabling their Magic Items.

Other than Dispelling Sphere, Perks like Weave Attunement, Barbecue and Chili, and Scourage Hook: Pain Resonance help you figure out Survivor locations with ease. Coupled with your movement buffs, Vecna is fast at finding Survivors and avoiding any obstacles in his way.

Other than Vecna, the Lich, what about the D&D Survivors coming to Dead by Daylight? Aestri Yazar and Baermar Uraz have their own unique Perks as well.
