Dawn of War 3 Endless War update out, Free Weekend begins

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

There’s a free weekend under way for Dawn of War 3, coinciding with an ‘Endless War‘ update that adds new maps and new Elites to the game. The game has struggled to maintain a base of players since its launch earlier in the year, so this is an effort to get more people to try the third in the series.

The free Dawn of War 3 weekend will end at 1pm (PDT) on Sunday, 22 October. Throughout, the game will be priced at $20 USD, or 50% off.

Endless War (a free update) adds an Ironclad Dreadnought to the Space Marine ranks, the Orks get a Lifta-Droppa Wagon, and the Eldar have Wraithseer Kayduin. Their abilities are demonstrated in the trailer, which you can watch below. Some new Elite Skins have been added to Dawn of War 3 with this update too, including the Primaris Chaplain skin for Diomedes, Deathwing Terminators, and the Eldar’s Kyre wearing the traditional Farseer helmet.

As mentioned, more maps are included. You can expect a 1v1 in the Eldar ‘Shrine of Asuryan’, a 2v2 match-up at ‘Serpent Chasm’ (a sand-swept plain surrounded by water), and a 3v3 in ‘Da Extractor’, a looted Ork fuel rig.

There are changes to multiplayer options as well. In custom matches, players will have “the option to toggle Elites, Doctrines, and faction super abilities on or off, creating new challenges as you face off against other players, or the AI.” Along with all that, Relic are removing the Skull currency system. That makes all Elites and Doctrines available to all players.
