A support email sent to one player says Namco are still looking into it :

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are aware of the current Dark Souls: Prepare To Die matchmaking service and it has been escalated to our internal teams to be looked into further. At this time it does appear that the matchmaking service is not working properly, however, rest assured that we are currently looking into resolving this as soon as possible (unfortunately, we haven’t yet received a timeframe for when this might be). We apologize for any inconvenience in this matter and appreciate your patience as our internal teams work on resolving this.”

Not great news as this was followed by a Tweet from the community manager which reads:

“I checked in a few days and could see stains etc. But yeah it’s definitely not fully functional. It will be resurrected soon. Ya. For a few different reasons the MM was overloaded. So there’s currently a duct-tape solution until it’s completely fixed up.

So to put it simply,. it;s still not working 100% as intended and they are still to put a final fix in place. At least it hasn’t not “died”.
