Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin PC discount finally revealed

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Bandai Namco has got around to revealing what sort of discount PC players who already own Dark Souls 2 can expect on Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. The fact that there would be some money off for existing owners was semi-confirmed already, but without specific details.

System specs for the DirectX 11 version have been released too, but let’s start with the pricing structures. It’s all there as part of a Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin FAQ.

Prices are in US dollars, but you can probably extrapolate what they’ll be in your local currency.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin as a standalone will be $50. If you own the original Dark Souls 2 and want to upgrade, it’ll cost you $30 (not actually that bad, as you’ll get all three rather excellent DLCs in the process.) If you already own Dark Souls 2 and the DLC it’s a less impressive upgrade deal at $20.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will apparently still be sold in separate DirectX 9 form too, priced at $40. This is basically the original Dark Souls 2 with the DLC bundled in and missing the DX11 stuff (slightly fancier graphics, new enemy placements, expanded multiplayer.) There will be separate Steam store pages for each version.

Sadly, that means separate player bases too.

Here are the minimum and recommended specs for the DX11 Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin edition. It’s coming to the PC on 2 April.
