Night City is full of people busy with the hustle and bustle of life. But, there’s something you’ve rarely seen: pets. Indeed, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have a lot of animals around, and this is even explained to you in bits and pieces whether from conversations with other characters or data shards. Still, there’s a way you can get a pet cat. Here’s our mini-guide to help you out.

Cyberpunk 2077: Finding a pet cat

On a couple of occasions in Cyberpunk 2077, you might spot stray cats. You can pet the one in the alleyway where Misty’s and Vik the Ripperdoc’s shops are. The other pops up as you’re discussing the details of a mission with a certain character. The character even remarks that the cat might be a “bakeneko” (a spirit or ghost).

However, there’s a real cat that you can find. First, head outside V’s apartment, turn left, and go around the hallway. You should see a garbage bin with a data shard telling you to “feed teh cat.” You should spot this shard in this location before you reach Cyberpunk 2077‘s “point of no return.” However, I’m uncertain if a specific main mission needs to be completed first.

Note 1: The shard is found next to a disposal unit with a sign that says: “Power cells, chemical waste, small cyberware, biowaste.”

Note 2: It seems you only need to reach the game’s second act for the shard to appear. Thanks to Chris Merzer for mentioning that in the comments section.

You’re going to need to find cat food for that. So, head to Santo Domingo’s Rancho Coronado area and look for the Arasaka Industrial Plant.

Note: There’s a fast travel point here if you’ve already discovered it.

This place is heavily guarded, so you’ll want to head to the western wall and climb on top of the structures, taking care to avoid the patrolling sentries.

You should have a clear view of the area, though you’ll want to head down and to the left.

There’s an incline here that leads to a doorway. If you open it, you’ll find the cat food on top of a crate.

Grab the cat food and high-tail it outta there. Then, fast travel back to V’s apartment.

Go back to the garbage bin and you should be able to place the cat food in the small dish. Next, head back inside your apartment and sleep.

Once you return, a cat named Nibbles will be chomping down on those treats. Even Johnny Silverhand’s quite mesmerized by it.

Pick up the cat and a short scene will follow. Nibbles will now be inside V’s apartment next to the bed.

Note: It looks like Nibbles doesn’t have eyes (they look glitched). I’m not sure if this is a bug or if Nibbles is blind. Alternatively, Nibbles might be a robot and the cat has cameras for eyes.
