It was rather shocking to learn that Cyperpunk 2077 could induce seizures. I’m curious to see how updates improve the experience for light-sensitive players, but I wasn’t expecting something so soon. Cyberpunk 2077 had a hotfix go live today that makes one major adjustment that should hopefully reduce the risk of the game causing issues. The effect in question is, of course, the braindance flashes, which were appallingly similar to a test pattern used to induce seizures in people with epilepsy. Today’s hotfix greatly reduces the magnitude and frequency of the flashes used during these sequences. It’s a brief note, to be sure, but it states that it “smooths out” the effect in general, so I hope that this makes a substantial difference for players.
Additionally, the hotfix has a wide range of improvements. It mainly focuses on fixing quests that were bugging out for people with a whopping 14 specific issues mentioned, along with “other quest fixes.” The preview when crafting weapons has also been fixed, as have visual issues, such as vehicle pop-in, the speed at which perspectives are switched, and NPCs that were missing animations during certain quests.
One other big fix is aimed squarely at streamers. Cyberpunk 2077 has a feature allowing players to remove all copyrighted music from gameplay in order to avoid the wrath of the DMCA Fairy. Some slipped through the cracks beforehand, but they should now all be in the right place.

As for PC players, there’s only a single change that specifically affects them. When switching Cyberpunk 2077‘s language to “default,” it should now reflect your selected language on your Steam account. As the game still has a lot of kinks to be worked out (both literally and figuratively), we can expect more and more patches to come. Hopefully, things will be made even easier on light-sensitive players from here.
