Cyberpunk 2077: Best Smart weapon perks

Work smarter, not harder.

Smart weapons are a very interesting weapon class in Cyberpunk 2077. They let you worry less about aiming by automatically targeting enemies for you. And then all you need to do is pull the trigger and let the carnage begin. Smart weapons aren’t for everyone, but those who put points into its skill tree will be rewarded very well. So, here are the best Smart weapon perks you can get in Cyberpunk 2077.

Before you can properly use Smart weapons, you need to get the Smart Link Cyberware from a Ripperdoc. This will allow you to use the auto-targeting function of a Smart weapon, which is basically the only reason you’d want to use these guns in the first place. So, before doing anything else, go and grab that.

Now for the Smart weapon perks in Cyberpunk 2077, we need to head over to the Intelligence skill tree. On the right-hand side, you’ll see a branch that contains most of the perks we’re looking for. Starting with Acquisition Specialist, which increases the size of the targeting reticle by 10%, plus it lets you reload Smart weapons without interrupting the target lock. Next to this perk is No Escape, which lets you reset the lock on a target if they’re about to get away by shooting them.

The next core perk up from there is Target Lock Transfer. Once again, this increases the reticle’s size by 10%, but it also lets you maintain target lock when either switching weapons or changing from aiming to hip firing. The idea of most of these perks revolves around maintaining lock-on no matter what. But then there’s the perk Targeting Prism, which lets you target multiple enemies at a time. Terminal Velocity is also a great perk as it increases lock-on range and projectile velocity for 10 seconds after killing an enemy.

The final Smart weapon perk to cover in Cyberpunk 2077 is Smart Synergy. But this perk relies on you having Overclock, so you’ll need to invest points into the Quickhack perks. Once you do that and get both Smart Synergy and Overclock, your Smart weapons have instant target lock and deal +25% more damage if the enemy is affected by a Quickhack. Most of this tree goes hand in hand with hacking, which makes sense. So, if you want to make the most out of Smart weapons, you’ll need to brush up on your hacking skills.
