Cyberpunk 2077: 2.0 vs Phantom Liberty – All Changes and Updates

What's new?

CD Projekt Red has tried to perform the unthinkable. They have tried to bring back a game that was so fundamentally broken and so bad that it was automatically refunded to some platforms. It has been done before with games like No Mans Sky, so it is possible, but can they achieve it? Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 was the update, and Phantom Liberty is the expansion, and each brings new changes and updates to the base game. But what are they, and do we think they’re enough to revive the game?

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 changes

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 was the update that was supposed to change everything. The developers have listened to the audience and gone back and actually played their own game. Something I feel they can’t have actually done before the initial release.

So many new things are revamped, from minor changes to huge AI tweaks. These promise to change everything and pull the game from the neon depths of its grave.

PC Invasion

  • Redesigned Skill Tree and Perks – This is easily one of the biggest and most notable changes to Cyberpunk with the 2.0 update. The skill tree is now so much more user-friendly, and there are some pretty impressive new perks to play with.
  • New Cyberware and Capacity Systems – Who doesn’t want more ways to mod their body in Cyberpunk? That’s what it’s all about. The capacity system can only be upgraded by leveling up, collecting capacity shards from fallen enemies, and using certain perks.
  • New Police systems and AI combat – Both the police, which were beyond useless, and the AI of enemies have been tweaked to add some level of challenge to the game.
  • Vehicle combat and driving systems – You can now do some sick dives from vehicles, shoot from them, and even drive weaponized cars.
  • Quality of life changes – The UI, UX, loot, crafting, and items have all been tweaked to make the gameplay feel a little better.
  • All new Radio Station – Not that anyone can actually hear it, but there is a new radio station called Growler FM to listen to.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Along with the free 2.0 update comes a paid-for expansion. Phantom Liberty advertises itself as a gritty, twisting detective story that introduces not only new characters but also new weapons and a whole new skill tree.

  • Content – A whole new storyline, characters, missions, gigs, and boss fights have been added with this Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty update.
  • Dynamic missions – Airdrops and vehicle recovery missions pop up around the newly updated map.
  • Relic Skill tree – This skill tree is one of the exclusive changes to Cyberpunk 2077, only available to Phantom Liberty players. It adds some pretty sweet perks to V’s setup.
  • Tons of Guns – Not just 100+ new weapons, but also clothes, cars, some with missile launchers, and cyberware are included changes in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Level cap – For anyone already at the level cap, it has been raised to 60, giving ten more levels to achieve.
