Curse Sued By Games Workshop

This article is over 14 years old and may contain outdated information

The owner of the Warhammer IP, Games Workshop, has filed a law suit against Curse Inc. the company behind the Warhammer Online fan site WarhammerAlliance.com. Games Workshop is citing trademark infringement, cybersquatting (holding on to the domain name), dilution, unfair and deceptive trade practices and unfair competition. Curse alerted its community to the legal action in a post on the site’s forums. In amongst the claims made by Games Workshop, it states that it was unable to contact an administrator or decision maker for WarhammerAlliance, to which Curse member DoranM responds that there are “numerous links” on the site. The Curse rep also gives a brief response to the suit: “We are shocked and surprised by this filing when this site, created in 2005, is well known for being one of the biggest Warhammer Online game fansite.” He goes on to thank readers for their continued support. Stay tuned for any developments the coming weeks.
