It appears a lot of gamers are suckers for incredibly beautiful, but incredibly controller-smashingly difficult run and gun games.

Studio MDHR, the outfit behind the gloriously stylish Cuphead, have announced their homage to 1930s-era Disney animation has surpassed 3 million copies sold. The game was released on PC and Xbox One in September 2017. An impressive feat, especially when considering the game passed 1 million sales only a month after it launched.

“It’s hard for us to express just how appreciative we are to everyone who has played and enjoyed our niche little run and gun game with the wacky rubber-hose characters,” wrote game producer Ryan Moldenhauer in a press release.

In celebration of the impressive sales milestone, Cuphead is discounted by 20 percent on Steam and Xbox One until midday on Saturday. Moldenhauer also noted in the release that the studio is marking the occasion with “some extra-special giveaways” to be announced via the company’s Twitter and Facebook pages in the coming days.
