So you’ve had your Vita for a while now and for the most part you’ve been pleased. The most powerful handheld ever created came out strong; the launch lineup had something for everyone and the promise of what’s to come is enough to keep gamers patient (for now). So with the new releases slowly trickling in, we finally have a chance to nitpick on some of the Vita’s flaws. At the same time, we’ve found a solution.

Feel free to call the Playstation Vita a gaming device for children but at the $249-$300 price range that isn’t realistic. So while I can imagine it being an ideal experience in the palms of the average pair of hands, I myself have extendo-fingers. For the most part this isn’t a problem but I have experienced some discomfort during extended play periods (I’m looking at you Lumines Electronic Symphony). Also, titles that take advantage of the rear touchpad provide gamers with the task of how to hold the Vita both safely and effectively while utilizing this unique hardware feature.

Enter the PS Vita Hand Grip from CTA. This third party add-on is essential to truly appreciate the Playstation Vita experience. Bold claim right? The only people to question the value of this product have obviously yet to take it for a spin. This one piece accessory is sturdy, easy to attach and pleasing to use. If that wasn’t enough, it also makes your Vita look like a Batman gadget.

After forming Voltron…er attaching the PS Vita Hand Grip, it locks into place and you’re good to go in a matter of seconds. The feel is sleek and smooth and it provides a comfort level that makes you wonder why Sony hasn’t officially endorsed the product. To say that it mimics the feel of the Dualshock 3 would be an injustice; this is a way more comfortable experience. The hollowed back provides access to the rear touchpad and finally makes the feature tolerable in those titles where it might have became annoying.

Though I highly recommend this accessory, that isn’t to say it is without flaw. While attached it makes pressing the volume and or power buttons a little difficult (not impossible). Also, you cannot charge the Vita and enjoy your new grip at the same time. Still, when you weigh the pros and cons and also factor in the $12.99 price point, you owe it to yourself to pamper your play experience.

Pros

+Sleek and comfortable design.
+Rear touchpad no longer a hindrance.
+Affordable price.
+You get to feel like Batman.

Cons

-Difficult to access volume and power buttons.
-Unable to use grip and charge Vita simultaneously.
